Maybe they raised the Chocorat from 30gr to 25gr and she wasn't supposed to have the new larger bar?

I hope she rots in jail!

Stupid, but if it was specifically listed in the rules, she broke the rules.
/her fault, no story

If TFA can't even get the spelling of the Isle of Wight correct, everything else is suspect.

I read that story twice and all I can say is WTF?
This is either a joke or somebody has real problem with power over these kids.

what if she turned in her everlasting gobstopper?

Eh.

In the US, she probably would have ended up with criminal charges and a Tasering.

Stupid rule is still stupid rule.

Should all the parents send the rules back, striking off the "no chocolate" rule?

2013-07-20 03:24:25 PM
Wow that is some weapons grade stupid there.

Holli is obviously a she-devil whore who cannot live amongst us. Her mum is scum of the worst sort. Yvonne Graves is a gift from God.

"No chocolate" is specifically stated in the school's code of conduct? Wow...I've read my kid's
school handbook cover to cover each year and "no chocolate" is never listed.

mindless obedience will be rewarded.  radical fun seeking and disobedience will be crushed and purged from society.

My kid's camp had similar rules and all the kids followed the rules (or didn't get caught) so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.
/You agree upfront to rules, you break a rule, you go home.  Why is this so hard to understand?
//Plus sleep-away camps are expensive. How did an unemployed mother afford this?

2013-07-20 03:31:38 PM
OMFG.  yes she broke a rule  but the rule was stupid and i am willing to bed the school employees over stepped their legals rights when they read the letter and conducted the search.   at least in the US they probably did.  and possibly so in the UK.

2013-07-20 03:31:44 PM
With her head shot up front in the article, this reeks of a UK rag like the Daily Mail. I'd be suspicious.

Didn't read the article, did you?

Didn't notice the bit about the school headmisstress only finding out because she read a private letter?

Don't care that someone invaded the privacy and sanctity of a child?

/you're dumb
//you're at fault for that.

I bet the headmaster Mr. Brocklehurst lets his own children eat chocolate.
/not too obscure

2013-07-20 03:37:32 PM
I really, really want to see a copy of the rules, so I can point and laugh at how they just decided that eating a chocolate bar was insubordination or something. She's not fat, and there's no possible way that chocolate is specifically written in there as banned. All I can think of is that it's like peanuts over here, where some special snowflake and their parents makes sure no one in the school can have a PB&J and then some hapless kid gets tackled and thrown in jail because he brought a "deadly weapon" to school.

What the fark, schools today in general.

/glad I'm not having kids

What the fark is wrong with those people?  That is institutional insanity at its best.

I went on plenty of overnight field trips when I was a kid and you were  expected to be bringing snacks and drinks.  Hell, I would bring a 48 quart cooler full of soda and snacks for my room.  We didn't have to hide it.  The teachers and chaperons would help load it on the bus.  And, yes, there was sometimes  chocolate among the snacks.

Holli's mother Kerri McCann had to borrow money in order to make the 160-mile trip to the Isle of White to pick up her daughter. McCann, who is unemployed and must care for her autistic son

Poor people detected.  Let us remove this unfortunate stain from our school.

2013-07-20 04:03:30 PM
FTFA:  Her school's headmistress found out about the confectionary (sic) crime only by snooping on a private letter that Holli McCann had written to her mother.

Tampering with mail? On this side of the pond, that is a crime.
