Ah yes, there's the pissy, woe-is-me, prima dona bullsh*t Brandon Phillips we came to know and loathe in Cleveland.

Suck it up, Brandy, and be happy that the Indians were nice enough to trade you instead of condemning you to a life in the minors after the sh*t you pulled here, you f*cking c*nt-knuckle.

I got 20 bucks subby... how many slaps will that buy me?

You signed the contract. Go slap yourself

the contract is a "slap in the face" compared to the 10-years, $225 million the Reds gave fellow star Joey Votto just five days earlier in 2012.

"This is a slap in the face. Where do I sign?"
Six years for a guy over 30 who's known primarily for defense - and lost the Gold Glove last year to a 26-year-old - is a long contract. But he could have gotten Votto money. All he had to do is provide similar offense, show a similar attitude and be as young as Votto.

By the way, I like how their link on his name goes to a page for a linebacker on the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.

I can almost understand his position. Maybe he stayed with the reds (a team/city he says he loves) instead of going to a team who was offering more because the GM told him "this is literally all we have to give, and we're breaking the bank as is". Then $200m gets dropped on another guy, it gives you a sort of "wtf" moment.

The next thought of most normal people would be that they still have $70+m guaranteed, so they just continue living their life as a super rich guy. Unfortunately, Brandon Phillips is not most normal people... Must be an Ohio thing.

What did BP do in Cleveland? I know they wanted to get rid of him but I haven't heard any of the stories of the crap he pulled just that he was a headcase. No one not even BP is saying Votto isn't worth the money and time because he is and everyone can agree on that at this point. The reason BP felt disrespected was because his contract was up and said over and over that he wanted to be a Red and stay in cincy and had no idea of his future and then out of no where they announce Votto got the money and years in a non contract season so yeah he was a little hurt but a week later he got what he wanted and its all good so really not a big deal he was just asked a question and answered it and it makes total sense.

Votto's comment in response was really impressive.

BP: I'd really like to stay in Cinci. I want to play here the rest of my career. Come on, it's the last year of my contract.
GM: I dunno. We are really stretched thin. We'll look at it at the end of the year. Just not sure.

*GM gives Votto $200m+ and a contract to end his career in Cinci*

BP: WTF man? You just said...

isn't this how a budget works, you know you are planning on buying that new car and your buddy ask if you can loan him $100, "sorry i'm my money is really stretched thin" and the next day you drive up in your new car. buddy is pissed, thinks you lied to him.

According to the article Votto signed 5 days before Phillips did. Phillips knew what kind of money Votto got and still signed the contract. No sympathy here.

Joey's a better player, and they're going to try to make him the face of the franchise. Of course he's going to get paid more.

Brandon Phillips is 32 year old with an average bat and is a slightly above average defender.  That doesn't get you $20 million a year.

I'mn not saying it'll happen, but it's conceivable that he could lose the GG this year to another younger guy who's playing 2nd base for the first time in his career; Matt Carpenter.

A lot of people who have no idea what really happens in cincy in this thread. When even the sports radio guys who do nothing but bash the teams actually agree with the reasons he said what he did. He is the face of this franchise, not votto. Every community event he is there. Every time someone asks for an autograph or picture he obliges. He just felt lied to when it came time for contract time.

I really don't understand how baseball players can make so much money compared to other sports. Is it because they have just a few guys on a roster and play a shiat ton of games?
