I'm all for driving her off, but I fear if viewership drops off too much SyFy will face the same fate as G4

I think SyFy had jumped the shark.

Then again, would you watch new high-production Sci Fi shows or just zone out on the same crap they have been feeding you?

Sharking brilliant.

I wish I could believe this was all some brilliant plan to bring MST3K back to TV. One of the things that killed the show was the cost of licensing shiatty movies. If the same network that airs the show already owns all the rights to the shiattiest movies ever made, *bam* problem solved.

Eureka was consistently good (they had a few stinker episodes).  You could take every single episode of Defiance and drop it into All My Children with minimal change.

The made the same mistake that Hollywood makes with movies scifi and horror franchises.  Get a decent script, slap a known franchise name on it and then rewrite it and try to force some tenuous connection the the original.
It rarely works out; just screws the original franchise and ruins the the new material.

Defiance is only worth watching because of the utter lack of other options.  I wouldn't miss it for a moment if it was suddenly cancelled.  I'd honestly rather have had two more seasons of Alphas than Syfy spending as much as they did on Defiance.

Eureka was great, but it's already done.  To be fair, it was time to cancel it.  It had a good run.

Continuum is watchable, but nothing great.  It could be great, but it often comes across as a generic cop procedural with fancier gadgets.

Caprica suffered from one main point that guaranteed its destruction: none of the characters were morally good.  Don't get me wrong, I loved it to death and I watched every week, but it really got to some of my friends and they stopped watching.  Movies can do that, but it's hard to have a television show where everyone is more farked up than the next person and you don't have anyone to root for.  Sure, in Hannibal we love Dr Lector, but we have other characters to bounce off of.

Maybe RiffTrax could do another fundraiser to buy SyFy and simply change the name to the Riff Channel. The programming is exactly the same, only now, Mike, Kevin, and Bill are riffing everything.

I also recall there was a fair amount of whining from most of the major characters.  And then we had the Eric Stoltz wife character who took it to warp factor ten and went full lesbo for some reason. Even the young terrorists never articulated a coherent for their acts, but they were whining about SOMETHING, but us viewers got to know what it was. The show never got past that.

NeoCortex42: Continuum is watchable, but nothing great.  It could be great, but it often comes across as a generic cop procedural with fancier gadgets.

That's really only true in the first season. They got away from that near the end of the first season, and  this season, they've basically chucked it out the window. There was one cop-style episode, where they're tracking down a serial killer (that Keira knew about from the future, and in the future- he was never caught), which was actually a really strong episode. And the rest of this season has been diving deeply into the science-fictional premises. Liber8 is splintered into a bunch of factions, the cops are turning Orwellian, a mysterious corporation driven by people from the future is pulling all kinds of strings- it's gotten really good.

It's not as good as, say, "Orphan Black", but "Continuum" has really found its stride.

"Person of Interest" had the same problems in its first season- "generic procedural WITH A TWIST", but they also jettisoned that near the end of the first season, and the second season was just  crazy.

The "full lesbo" thing shouldn't have been that big a deal to you in the big scheme of things, as the society shown in the show seemed to be pretty open about shared sexuality and multiple husbands/wives kind of thing.

But, yeah, I can't really remember when the terrorists motives were. Was it just religious wackos, or was that just a cover for something else?

It does seem that the biggest poblem with the series was that it was marketed as a BSG prequel, when it should've been marketed more as "Dallas...in the future".

I don't watch movies like this in general.  Unfortunately my 14 year old nephew was over when this was on repeat.  He insisted we watch it.  I have to say I genuinely had fun watching this movie.  I don't think I would ever enjoy it watching it by myself but getting to laugh and make fun of things like a kid again was just fun.  This will go down as one of the best times I had with my nephew, something I won't be forgetting.

How is Sharknado not science fiction? Does all science fiction have to be in space or the future? I mean, are biology and weather not science?
