This. Glad to see the 'ol gal hittin' the skins, but this is really rudimentary stuff, and isn't consistent even within itself. This is something that anyone could learn to do in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, and I've been playing guitar for 40 years. Doesn't mean I don't show respect to my elders.

Typical retard drummer responses.   HERE'S THE THING GUYS, YOU ARE THE LEAST TALENTED PEOPLE OF EVERYONE IN YOUR BAND, AND NO ONE IS LOOKING AT YOU WHEN YOU PLAY.  YOU ARE A METRONOME - KEEP THE BEAT AND SHUT UP STUPID.

No way that's Neil's mom. The kit isn't nearly big enough.

Bullshiat.  Typically the 'least talented' in the band is the lead singer.  Or the bass player.

Perhaps lead singer.  In most successful bands the bass player is the most versatile, playing also keyboards, backup vocals, writing and producing.  The Drummer usually doesnt do anything else.

Hey, I play bass and I'm super-talented. I can quite literally go from 3/4 time to 7/2 time without realizing it, or intending to, just by smoking a huge medicinal plant cigarette and thinking I'm awesome.

That is THE WORST thing I have every heard, EVER. Seriously.  Her voice makes me want to jump under a steam-roller.

Oh, sorry. I really like it, it's almost classic Damo Suzuki era Can. It's also Ringo's finest moment, his motorik drumming on that track is intense.

I think she's pretty good.

2013-07-20 08:44:49 AM
As a rudimentary drummer I thought I'd chime in.
She's pretty good! I was impressed. She moves around the kit nicely with her rolls. She kept the hi-hat hitting constantly through all of this. "This is something anyone could learn in two weeks?" Hardly. I am not a great drummer but I've been taking lessons for a few months now and only now am I learning good hi-hat control while using the ride - and I still think about it in relation to the kick drum. She obviously learned great seperation abilities with her left foot.
And I was in bands for 20 years as a guitar or bass player before I switched to drums. Let me tell you, I spent my life thinking drummers were morons. NOT NOW. The co-ordination involved in playing drums is far different than the co-ordination in play almost any other instrument. Guitar, you learn to finger this note while picking, move on to the next note - faster and faster and faster (and cleaner), but the "all muscles move at the same time" thing still applies. Drums, that all goes out the window. I just learned to play "Train Kept A Rollin'" and it took me quite a few days until my limbs would do what they want. Quarter notes on the hi-hat, the funky beat distributed among kick and snare. And it's not like you learn it bad and then get better, it's like when you learn to ride a bike - you fall down, you fall down, you keep trying, and then it all clicks in your muscles. You start wobbly but then "got it" and you don't know why you couldn't do it again. Then on to the next exercise.
Anyone who talks crap about drumming hasn't tried it.

How can you tell if the stage is level?  The drummer is drooling out of both sides of his mouth...

What's the difference between a pizza and a lead singer?  A pizza can feed a family of 4.

It would take years, not weeks, from being a non-drummer to play like that.

Music is not a race with a winner. If you think so, you've already lost by missing the point completely.

I don't care if she's been playing for 15 seconds or for 75 years. She's smiling, and she's made a lot of people do the same just by hitting stuff behind the kit. That's exactly what music is there for - to evoke feelings out of people.

To everybody who says: "She sucks, <insert link/name here> is better" - regardless of her skill set, she's already proven that she's a better musician than you, even if you are a better player.

She probably learned to play "Wipe Out" in her middle school bandroom, and then went from there. For all I know, she's the girl who gave several boys their first handie in a darkened band bus back in '66.

/but not me, alas

//sorry to be mean--cheers to you, Grandma Drummer!
