(Charleston City Paper) Senator Paul's social media adviser Jack Hunter has asked his old paper to delete his many years of railing against the Union, Lincoln, the idea that slavery was bad and other such treats under the pen name The Southern Avenger. FTA: It was best, I said, that if those points of views no longer applied to him, Jack should pen a column detailing how he had changed his mind, but he declined.

And therefore, rather than removing those dozens of old posts, the editor instead writes an editorial piece highlighting a select dozen of those vintage columns. H.L. Mencken would have loved it.

You'd think that Paul the Younger would have learned from his pappy's troubles with racists that you shouldn't let racists run your PR game.

Unless... you don't think... No! Rand Paul isn't a terrible racist too, just like his father and social media director and the writer of his father's newsletters, is he? Let us all pray to Aqua Buddha he is not.

I think he's just like his father; he's too stupid to realize that people can look up shiat you've done in the past. It's a whole group of assholes who said assholish stuff to get attention when they were less well known and now can't handle the fact that their old words can come back to haunt them.

At the very farking least, you'd think he would at least try to hire a social media adviser who had some sort of vague idea of how social media works, even if he was a racist. This situation is a social media cluserfark.

FTA: Jack Hunter knew that the Republican establishment was working to out him as a neo-Confederate and a racist, a move he believed could hurt the one-time City Paper columnist's boss, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

Why? Honest question. The base eats this stuff up. Being racist isn't going to hurt you there. Sure, it won't help Senator Paul to win a national election, but he's not going to win one anyway. It could help Senator Paul's bonafides with the base in terms of capturing the nomination or leveraging his delegates into a VP or Cabinet spot, on the other hand.

That's some quality uh.. "libertarian" stuff there.

I forever lament the day that the Objectivists stole the term libertarian from the humanists and forever tainted it with their balls out worship of psychopathy.

While a member of the City Paper's stable of freelancers, Jack wrote in support of racially profiling Hispanics, praised white supremacist Sam Francis, blasted the House of Representative's apology for slavery, claimed that black people should apologize to white people for high crime rates, defended former Atlanta Braves pitcher and racist John Rocker and Charleston County School District board member Nancy Cook after she said some mothers should be sterilized, argued that Islam was an innately dangerous threat to the U.S, professed that he would have voted for a member a British neo-Nazi political party if he could have, considered endorsing former Council of Conservative Citizens member Buddy Witherspoon in his bid to unseat Sen. Lindsey Graham, compared Abraham Lincoln to Adolf Hitler and Ike Turner, and continued to profess the erroneous claim that the primary cause of the Civil War was not the fight over slavery, ignoring the decades of American history leading up to war and South Carolina's very own Declaration of the Immediate Causes for Secession, which clearly note that protecting slavery was the preeminent motivation of state leaders.

But hey, other than that...

FOR RON PAUL

2013-07-19 11:35:32 AM
but it was my opinion then and it is my opinion now that Jack is the most common kind of racist, the one that doesn't realize that he is one. In fact, like many on the right - from Pat Buchanan to Newt Gingrich to Rick Perry to Rush Limbaugh - Jack traffics in race-baiting rhetoric and repeatedly aligns himself with racists but then refuses to own up to the meaning and purpose of his actions. And just so long as he doesn't call somebody a "n*****" or pistol whip a black man for looking at his lily white wife, he can keep on believing that, because to admit the truth would be to admit that he was in fact a villain.

Sorry, brah... I listened to Jack's weekly editorials on 96 Wave, I read all his columns. This is neither a hoax nor even something that Jack Hunter shied away from.

Now, Senator Paul could ditch him and still have two+ solid years of separation before campaign 2016 really heats up, but if he doesn't it will be plainly evident that not only did he hire such a guy, but he kept him onboard as a close adviser. What's worse is that he also advises him on foreign policy, a topic about which Jack Hunter knows... Jack Sh*t.

Paul Baumer: "And frankly, that told me all I needed to know about Jack's conversion. "

Farking money.

Exactly what I was thinking. If you are ever approached to remove something old and obscure that almost nobody would ever see anyway, there must be a reason somebody wants it taken down.

If you WROTE/DID something that is online somewhere that could hurt or embarrass you, NEVER ask for it to be taken down. It only draws attention to it. Instead, prepare your response in the event that it eventually does become a public issue. If it is likely that it WILL come out, leak it yourself at a time that is least damaging to you. Like maybe in a mid-term or something.

It's not really genocide if it's not an ethnic tie. Really it's just mass-murder, but murder only applies to killing humans. Call it moronslaughter or something.
