That stinks.  No, really.  I was watching trains (yes, yes, your hobby sucks too) on the NS main and a garbage train went by, it was unpleasant.

It's the Bronx, is anyone gonna notice?

An engineer, a conductor and a brakeman were on board; no one was injured.

What does the conductor do on a freight train?  Collect tickets from the trash?

For anyone not from NYC, let me explain this headline...

You don't care.

The dump was closed in 2001 but thanks for playing.

A shuttle bus is operating between Marble Hill and Riverdale stations, where customers can resume Metro-North service. Customers should use the Harlem line for points of travel north and south of Spuyten Duyvil; tickets will be cross-honored.

Stay out of Riverdale.

He fights with the engineer as to who is the boss of the brakeman.

It was a garbage train on the way out. What was it on the way in to New York?
Yeah. They do that with semis too. Haul a load of potatoes in, haul a load garbage out.

Meh. All that cat did was sleep. Looked cute but he just slept.

"Shortly thereafter, we saw people just kind of getting off the train."

They were "kind of" getting off the train? They weren't really getting all the way off the train?

"They dumped us like a piece of garbage."

There was a place in Queens where they were parking garbage trains in a yard next to a school building. I understand they have to move the stuff somehow, so keep it rolling, but parking a garbage train for hours/days is just piss-poor planning for CSX.

Trains sure do derail a lot.

Alonjar: Trains sure do derail a lot.

Lack of track maintenance tends to result in that.

Thanks again to Mike Ward for that wonderful deferred maintenance plan that saves CSX so much money.

I don`t miss those trains.
Wouldn't mind seeing one of those -3 rebuilds by CSX

I like the plan circulated to run high speed rail on existing tracks. What could go wrong?

This can happen, but a good amount of over-the-road truck carriers refuse to haul trash because food customers will reject their trailers if it smells or appears dirty.

Action this day. MetroNorth doesn't play.  Those tracks will be cleared/re-laid before I finish typing, (or by Monday).

He's in charge of the cargo, just like on a passenger train.

CSX makes the Bronx a little more like Staten Island New Jersey.

FTFY

/they don't bring the trash to Staten Island anymore
//it all goes to NJ

I have both here, including the former Monongahela Railway trackage which is maintained by NS but jointly operated by both.  Got to say, CSX has BY FAR some of the worst rolling stock I've ever seen on a class I.  I'll forgive the AVR, SWP, P&OC, etc. for running junk, but CSX ought to do better.  That said, however, their locomotives are generally surprisingly well maintained, NS seems to have far more patched Conrail units.

/youtube channel thenekom, but I've only got a few dozen videos

And surely they removed all the trash they'd dumped there for 62 years, yes?

Since they built the Guinea Gangplank, yes. Beforehand, no.
