(Birmingham Mail)   Good: Right-wing English Defence League protesters to be kept separate from anti-fascist protesters during rallies tomorrow. Fark.com: By keeping them locked up in pub for 3 hours before rally to get drunk and frustrated first. This should end well   (birminghammail.co.uk) divider line 28

After all, a fascist group that welcomes Jews and gays needs to drink.

Wow, so the police would like a right wing group to gather in one set area so the police can watch over them.

/Things that would end badly in the US.

The EDL aren't exactly right wing. They're mostly just anti-Brown-people. Outside of that they don't agree so much on policies.

What's the English Defence League doing in Alabama?

2013-07-19 12:19:19 PM
Most Likely Outcome: A group of drunk EDL members emerge from the pub and throw some beer bottles at the police. The police respond by kettling the EDL members until they get hungover and dehydrated before sending in the Police Medics to crack a few skulls.

Get them drunk and send them out into an angry and violent "anti-fascist" mob.

Now That's entertainment!

If you call yourselves 'anti-fascist' you really can't get mad at other non fascist groups, can you? And English defense? You can go provoking anyone.

Now come back when you guys are the "Anti-Everything but Us" and you guys are the "British Offense League". We'll have a nice fight then.

Thanks. Locking up in a pub a bunch of people who don't agree does sound much better. Better for Fark.

I really need to spell check proof read and check my work.

Get all the Anti Fascists in a bar. Get them good and drunk. Then, have someone run in to the bar and yell "Hey, there are a bunch of fascists out here!" The Anti-fascists will poor out looking for a fight but they'll only find a guy up on the corner saying "Them Fascists went that way!" and pointing down a side street.

When the mob gets there, they'll see another guy further down the street "Are you the mob what's looking for the fascists to fight? They went this way and they said you were all anti-fascists posers! You'd better run if you want to catch 'em"

The rest of the night, lead the anti fascists on a run through town until they're all tuckered out.

That's really all that needs to be said here, excessive historical parallelism is scary.

This is pretty good. EDL dude walking down the street with police. A guy hits him and the EDL guys is arrested.

Go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over...

The only thing I really know about the EDL was when the the Daily Mail posted "chilling" pictures of members with guns. And by guns, they meant mostly air rifles and airsoft guns. American /k/ people saw this and decided it would be fun to mess with them, so they took all sorts of pictures of them with their various weapons (real AR-15s, AKs, thousands of rounds of ammo etc...) in front of British and English flags. They sent the pictures to the Daily Mail.

Someone ratted /k/ out to the EDL, and they made an announcement that they were being smeared by a liberal organization.

Given that Kevin Carroll clearly pushes the guy in the cap, at 31 seconds, before he turns around and hits back, what's your issue? Carroll and Robinson were subsequently arrested for obstructing the police, not for assault.

I did not see that. I liked, "Are we having a laugh?"

It worked in Terry Pratchet's Thud!. The Watch got the trolls and dwarves so drunk that they couldn't stand, much less riot.

Which is a fairly standard charge used by the police when they want to arrest someone but don't really have any lawful reason to do so.

I know nothing about the edl, so don't take this comment as a defense of any stance they uphold.

Except for the part where EDL is not fascist and the 'anti-fascist' protesters are actually just a bunch of far leftists who try to shout people down, okay.

Do they regular use the nazi salute?  I'm asking because I've seen definitely not fascist groups nazi salute the police to mock them when they were cracking down on a peaceful protest.
