Well, at least they didn't bury him at sea.

Depends, what was in his will? Did he want to be cremated?

Or was he so burnt to death that he was a charred skeleton?

This whole thing is very strange.

Was there anything left of him after the car fire was put out?

Still, total dick move if the family didn't want it, but see my note below.  My sister's fiancee was a pilot who died in a plane crash years ago and one of the things I learned is that even after a plane fire they'll scoop up whatever is left and then weight a sealed coffin down with lead weights so it feels like you're carrying your friend at his funeral.  I believe that might be procedure that the NTSB wrote up, because he died in another state and couldn't be shipped back for weeks while they did the investigation, so his coffin was prepared out of state.

If you watch the "source" - this woman hasn't actually spoken to the family, she's spoken to a "friend."  There is no real confirmation that his family didn't request a cremation.  I'll withhold judgement until at least one of them confirm that it wasn't requested.  It's a big enough deal that they should be screaming from the rooftops.

Former White House counter-terrorism expert Richard Clarke stated in June that Hastings' car crash was "consistent with a car cyber attack," in which an automobile is actually controlled by a third party electronically.

Ill see if I can sum it up. This is Stanley McChrystal.
Former commander, Special Operations Command
Hastings basically got the most elite killer in the entire world fired.
Then he allegedly set his sights on the CIA.
This cannot be tolerated and Richard Clarke is just making sure even the synchophant journalists get the memo.

So... he was murdered by the government (or elements within authority) who then ensured no one could prove it, but left them enough to suspect it to discourage future Hastings's?

That's harsh.

Protip--If your going to use your flabbergasm site to distort, hyperbolize, and inflame a story (just for the sake of it)--while citing a specific news report as the source of the concern--it's best not to link to it if it takes the punch right out of your regurgitated derivative failblog.

Though this part of the sourced article was funny--

Despite the LAPD's categorization of the Hasting fatal accident as a "no (evidence of) foul play," LAPD continues to ignore FOIA (CPRA in Calif.) requests made by San Diego 6 News for the police report, 9/11 call, autopsy, bomb squad and toxicology reports, or make available for inspection which only fuels conjecture.

Don't those cars have some sort of remote steering control that helps it avoid collisions if you drift out of your lane?

I could see being able to accelerate the car and maybe disable the brakes if you could somehow get into the OBC. Maybe through Bluetooth. Can't see any possible way they could take over steering though, as some of the youtube wackos suggest.

/Also wonder if they also changed all his radio stations to Mexican music.

Depends on the model of car.
If its a wire (rather than hydraulic) system that runs through a computer, and that computer is hackable (any kind of outside access) then it's possible. Outlandish maybe. But an ingenious way to kill someone without leaving easily found evidence.
Tampering with people's cars to kill them isn't unheard of. With more technology we can assume there will be new kinds of tampering.
