There's a cheesy calibration tool included with 7 (Start -> control panel -> display -> calibrate color) or you can google for an online calibration site. One of these can at least get your display in the ballpark.

I'm looking for a good one myself.

I did some horse-trading to get my first one years ago. It worked fine with Vista,
The software absolutely refuses to install, it says there are known incompatibilities
and there is no software upgrade.

Here are the calibrators I'm considering.
Either the Pro or Express models.

Oh, you're looking for a CALIBRATOR and not a Calibrator.
My bad. I forgot you have that camera that takes great pictures. :o)

I've never seen a calibration appliance like that...I was thinking more along the lines of software and comparison strips. Very Nice! (and not too expensive!)

You wouldn't happen to have a birthday coming up in the near future, would you?

Grey Day

Yawn.

Stretch.

Settle fur
Into available
Space.

Sit upon my
Person.

Feet.
Legs.

Whatever will
Hold them in place.

Slow down,
Feel the pulse
Of life.

Be still.
Listen
To the silence.

The long drawn out breath
Of Peace.
Close your eyes.

Rest.
Refresh.

Actually, it's less than a year away!

PS - I did the Win 7 calibration thing, but it's pretty inexact,
but far better than nothing.

Whiskers! He was laying this morning along my leg, with his head on my foot..and his whiskers in between my toes. A very, very weird feeling. Not quite a tickle. I guess he trusts me enough not to mash his moustache? I told him it felt funny, so he moved his head so that it draped over my foot. Now, tell me cat's don't understand what you are saying to them.

Q_J! How is/are..
1. Your Mom doing in this heat?
2. Oscar doing..I want pics..plenty of mega pickles..dill if you you have em..
3. You doing? Between vacation and your hardware probs I have missed you..no one to talk to about gaseous emissions!

You will be glad to know that hubby and I have been playing more with our "new" camera. He's produced some rather nice videos, and some stills. I'm going to go play with depth of field and flowers. (I have an un identified wild flower!)...

Oh, and hubby wants to know if you have info on light cabinets, for use when filming small stationary objects that are brightly colored.

And ((hug)). Some day, in person! Think Zaftig...hehehe!

Great pic!

And please add my condolences on the passing of your beloved Grandmother. Sounded like one helluva woman and I'm glad that you got to spend so much time with her. She'd be proud of the way you're handling her passing-- no one who loves you wants you to suffer-- your humor is a great coping mechanism. :)

Thank you!

1 - Mom is doing OK. The heat affects her appetite, but I try to get her out riding around with me in the A/C. It plays hob with my gas mileage, but I
feel it's worthwhile. However, last week, I learned that she had never had hushpuppies. She has now, and she *like* them. And, yes, it was
every bit as bad as you are probably imagining.

2 - Oscar is doing well, but he is resisting the name, so I may have to wait a little longer before he gets an official name,
He's a little snuggle-bug. He loves to jump up on my lap (which makes it hard to smoke my cigar) and buries his face
in the crook of my elbow and purrs his little heart out. His fur is as soft as a rabbit. He's almost silky.

The problem with getting pictures is that I keep the camera stashed away due to the questionable neighborhood.
My camera bag with camera, lenses, flash meter, etc is valued at nearly $30K to replace.
This is *not* the neighborhood to be flashing that kind of bling if you want to keep it.
I'll get some shots with the nice megapickles, but it may be a while.

3 - I'm doing OK. The heat is rougher on me than mom, because she doesn't feel it. My scar where they implanted the pacemaker
has bothered me from day one. It feels like a burn. Just as if you burn yourself on a hot cast-iron skillet. Doctor says I'm only the
3rd person he's ever seen with that reaction. When I had hair, and that hair had color, I was a redhead. Anesthesia and painkillers
don't work very well on me. Redheads tend to have that problem. I'll take a painful incision over being ashes scattered on a
mountain in Alaska.

Thanks for asking! I hope your trip was good and that Eli is being good to you.

2013-07-22 06:09:42 PM
Q_J yes, the trip was good. Somewhat stressful, my Mom is 76, and does not do well with lack o sleep. And she is weaker than she should be..maybe the chemo of a year ago is still affecting her.

As for your scar..try either vitamin E ( open the cap and decorate your scar) or aloe vera gel. Both come highly recommended.

Thank you. I really do appreciate all the support I've gotten from my Caturday family, and it has been passed along to my mom.

This is well known, scientifically proven and yet I still have a hell of a time finding a doctor who doesn't view it as a strange anecdote. When they had to knock me out for the MRI they were shocked at how much they had to give me, how often they had to re-up it to keep me still (I really, really don't like very tight spaces like that and am apparently quite capable of flying into a panic even while supposedly under anesthesia) and how quickly I tossed off the anesthesia. That's a really crappy way to say "I TOLD YOU SO!" but that's generally what happens to me, probably you and every other redhead as well. Since my hair is more of a mahogany color, I think they're probably wondering why I'm telling them about that redhead genetic unpleasantness (besides the skin cancer we have to be careful about and the lack of a soul, of course). I have the exact same genetic whatever causes that as your average carrot top, just like all of us with red-tinged hair do, no matter what the shade.

Also, I'm glad to hear your mom is doing OK. I'm shocked - SHOCKED! - she had never had hushpuppies before. What's next? Pudding? That would be almost criminal. You make your Mommy some pudding, ya hear? Some CORN PUDDING! Gosh, make me some while you're at it. I'm beat and I've got a powerful hunger for someone who's been snacking all day and who is about to attack the treat basket like a wild animal.

I've had a couple of times where I've awakened under anesthesia.
A couple of years ago, I sat upright during an endoscopy. Darn near pulled all the optical equipment
off of the table. Just rolled over onto my back and sat up. Freaked the doctor the hell out.
They hit me with a big helping of Propophol that knocked me out for a couple extra hours.
The guy that was supposed to drive me home began to get worried when my hour and a half turned into three.
I was ducked fup!

...Mr. p_v is going to be hiking to the summit of Mt. Washington in NH on August 18th to raise money for a group called Hike for Mental Health. This is a local organization that asks hikers to get sponsors for their hikes. 80% of the money raised goes to fund mental health research, the other 20% goes to maintain hiking trails. I'm sharing the link to his fundraising page on Facebook if anyone would like to donate any amount, no matter how small (or large). Could you remind us next Caturday, please? GoGo Beastie has not got her allowance yet and I bought a bunch of nail polish in a fit of retail therapy (that's 23 new ones this month alone - I think I'm mildly depressed). In other words - I'm uncomfortably low on funds (I don't usually get this bad, but there it is). I don't use Facebook due to security concerns, but my mother doesn't care if my stalker finds HER, so she's got a FB page. I can do it from there when she gets home next weekend, so long as you remind us, k?
