I guess Boehner is calling the bluff of those tea party House members who said this would end his tenure as Speaker.

But are they for the full Dream Act or that version where only military service guarantees citizenship?

I, for one, would like to know more.

I'm...I'm so confused.   I thought that side of the political spectrum was against the Dream Act.   Now they are for it?   Why?  What's changed?   How does it screw me over (I'm sure it will....I'm female!)

Damn you, lame duck Obama!!

Why are we giving citizenship to criminal illegals when our own innocent unborn and elderly are being killed by Obamacare?

Republicans should pass laws to repeal Obamacare and outlaw abortion, not give special rights to illegals.

That Obamacare sounds bad. I hope they can do something about it!

Party establishment is starting to understand that they need a larger umbrella if they want the presidency in the long run. Being able to attach the Dream Act to their party five to ten years from now could be a foundation for a bridge for more constituents.

You obviously don't like cheap food. "Illegals" are solely responsible for propping up our unsustainable agricultural industries as there aren't enough Americans willing to work hard labor in un-air conditioned fields for at or below minimum wage. The cost farms would have to pay to encourage citizen labor for those posts would triple the cost of wheat, fruit, and tobacco.

If we repeal Obamacare, it will force the elderly to pull themselves out of their laziness by their bootstraps and get jobs. It's a win/win.

I'll note that back in 2010, when Nancy Pelosi brought the DREAM Act to a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives, both John Boehner and Eric Cantor voted no on the bill.

Someone must have hacked the Rasmussen secret poll for the Republican House leadership.

I meant to add: get jobs the job creators have added by the thousands due to their taxes dropping since the Bush Administration.

Anyone else alarmed by this section of the article?

""It's an issue of decency, of compassion," said House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) as he finished the final stitch on a vagina he was sewing shut."

/or was that just me?

That was before someone clued them in to demographics. Cantor has been remarkably silent lately - I wonder if Boehner put the screws to him to knock off the hard-rightery (or at least the AW-ery).

Also, I think the Senate deal scared them a bit. I don't yet know how, but this seems like a center-ward pivot by Boehner (who is probably tired of failing the Hastert Rule).

You mean back in 2010 when the single most important job was to make Obama a 1-termer create jobs?

The wharrgarble in freeperville is stunning:

Boehner'shiatting the sauce again. I reject his premise. Kids of illegal aliens are even worse than their parents. Boehner's conjuring up some idyllic world of crying infants in straw baskets left on porches, but that isn't the case. Many of these "kids" are gang-banging teens and MS-13 street thug types.

Yes, the Speaker is correct. It is time to do something for the children of illegals:-SEND THEM TO MEXICO, CENTRAL AMERICA, AFRICA AND ASIA!

Oh and theyll never ever vote republican. The hispanic catholics vote dem at a higher ptg than general hospanic. They wont vote republican if it means pro life they hate em. Why? Because the republicans in mexoico are the bad party
Theres your assimilation

I cannot truly write what I think about Boehner. Lately, I find myself more repulsed by POS scum than I am by the Marxist.
If Boehner has any decency he would switch to the party of his soul -- the RAT PArty.
Boehner is equally complicit along with the RATs with the destruction of our Republic.
John Boehner is a very, very evil human being.

IMHO, every incumbent needs to be voted out regardless of which party they're in.I would also love to see party affiliation removed from ballots and then watch the people who have no clue what they're doing try to vote the party line. Maybe then, people will start listening to what these people say and compare it against what they do and hold them accountable.

OK then, we make them all legal citizens then what?  Do they make minimum wage and the prices sky-rocket anyway?
Or do we create a 2nd class of citizens that the minimum wage laws don't apply to?

The answer is "whomever." Whomever.

Does anyone think the cheap price of food in this country is one of the reasons that companies can get away with stagnating wages? People can still (generally) afford to eat, so they keep wages down?

Think of the possibilities here; an outsourced military where you pay your soldiers between $50 and $70 a day in cash, you pick them up when you need them at the local Home Depot and drop'em off when you are done. This would free up so much money to give to Northrop Grumman to develop new weapons systems but all the manuals would have to be printed in Spanish...

This is why we need robots.  Intelligent robots we can enslave until we finally realize they are sentient beings after all...and then we melt them down and make stupider robots with no feelings.

/And eventually the original robots come back and want to have sex with us.

House Republicans are considering legislation that reflects the ideas of the DREAM Act as part of other piecemeal immigration reform measures.

When they pass it, they will claim to have been for these ideas all the time, while simultaneously attacking Obama for passing the DREAM act.

All this has happened before.

All this will happen again.

No, I think it's things like the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Credit, coupled with a fear that if you ask for a raise, you'll get fired.
