DamnYankees: I don't have a problem with the carpet-bagging issue as much as I do with the whole "has no experience or professional or intellectual qualifications at all for this job" issue.

My issue is more of the "daughter of one of most damaging politicians in American history who thinks he was right" issue.

Oldiron_79: DirtyDeadGhostofEbenezerCooke: FUN FACT:  If every single resident of the state of Wyoming dropped dead tomorrow, it would still be entitled to one Representative in the House and two Senators.

/that's a f*cked up system

Well in every single resident of Kalifornia dropped dead tomorrow it would still be entitled to its 50something reps till the reapportionment after the 2020 census, whats your point?

Representation by geography rather than population farktard-level stupid.  Unlike California, Wyoming is over-represented even if ever single resident lives.

New York has a long history of senators from other places. RFK was a New York Senator. We don't have a particular problem. Senator Clinton also was very good at the job - she fought for a lot of important things, especially first responders after 9/11.

But then again, NY has always been a place for immigrants. Wyoming meanwhile is part of that republican base who mocked Hillary and were the ones more so than most New Yorkers calling her a carpetbagger.

Has no experience? But I thought we all hate career politicians. Plus isn't it the duty of the citizenry to engage in civic affairs like governance?

Probably not when their very own father is a war criminal, no.

And this is important.

Because she's a Republican.

As opposed to Hillary running in NY.

Kevin72: Actually checking the Snopes article, The pres and vp can be from the same state, but the electoral college electors from that state can not vote twice. In 2000, if Darth Cheney kept his Texas residency, he would not have gotten the Texas electoral votes that Bush did, and Joe Lieberman would have been elected Bush's vice-president.

Somehow, that scenario doesn't reassure me.

Yes, but enough about Barack Obamas 2008 Presidential campaign.

You mean Senator Obama, or State Senator Obama?

Oh, that's right...you mean "community organizer" Obama.

...I'd bet a dollar her C.V. Reads better than yours.

And GW Bush's CV read better than Obama's.

You did have a point, right?

I had a point. If Obama was in this thread talking about Dubya being unqualified the cases might be parallel, even.

Are you off your meds again, or something, dude?

El Pachuco: When her father ran for VP in 2000, he claimed Wyoming residency because it's illegal for the President and VP to be residents of the same state and Bush was Gov. of Texas.

No it's not.

I agree. I think her status as a Sith and desire to eat babies is more of an issue.

IlGreven: ...wait, isn't Wyoming where her parents gained prominence?  Then saying she's a carpetbagger would be like saying Chelsea Clinton is a carpetbagger if she ran for office in Arkansas. No, she's not.

That is for the people of Wyoming to decide. Outside Wyoming, it's not really up to us, like when Hilary ran in NY.

However, it's a perfectly legitimate question for the people of Wyoming to ask when deciding who to vote for.
