KazamaSmokers: Remeber - only the democrats are out of control. Republican actions are only ever for the greater good and are never abusive.

I haven't been here in a while, but can someone explain to me what happened to the Weaver I remember?

He basically saw that the Republican Party is a vile corrupt organization which has no redeeming value, and switched parties, even canvassed for President Obama's reelection.

All this is, is the Republican finally control the House and Senate for the first time in over 100 years, and these idiots don't like it.

So instead of protesting peacefully where they're allowed to, they go where they're not, and get arrested.   And it's getting them nowhere.

Where the GOP lives, democracy dies.

I'm surprised you hadn't heard. The Republican Party went farking crazy. It was in all the papers...

One to many stories exactly like this? I mean, not that both sides aren't bad and all, but the GOP seems a bit fond of wearing their crazy on their sleeve lately.

Contraception is not murder.  The bill is not about removing choice.

THE BILL IS ABOUT REQUIRING YOU TO MAKE UP YOUR farkING MIND IN THE FIRST TWENTY farkING WEEKS!

Contraception is making up your mind BEFORE you do anything, and is commendable.

No.  They actually go where they are allowed, but then they stay longer than they are allowed to the point of unlawful trespass or whatever it becomes.

It's like a person coming up to ring your doorbell.  They can't just pitch a tent on your porch, and refuse to leave.

All of the people, who have been arrested, were given fair warning, a clear explanation of the offense, and plenty of opportunity to avoid arrest.

They CHOSE to be arrested so they can play the martyr.

OldManDownDRoad: ikanreed: DubtodaIll: To be fair I'd say NC is the best run state in the south.

You understand that we had good economic growth over the 90s and 2000s because of progressive policies

Oh, yeah, I remember those: Marc Basnight siphoning off money for his vanity projects in District One, Erskine Bowles covering up the various corrupt practices of the executive branch (the Golden Leaf fiasco, for one), the project to turn the Highway Patrol into a patronage turkey farm similar to the DMV. No thanks.

I've got no love for the greedy bastards from Charlotte, especially their embarrassing Amendment One, but to pretend that NC was anything but a soi disant Louisiana in terms of corruption and malfeasance indicates you are either on Randy Voller's payroll (along with those hookers in Vegas) or you weren't really paying attention the last 123 years.

Two words: Mary Easley

Corruption is inarguably bad.  Corruption and republican politics is a way to nuke an economy from orbit.

Seems pretty obvious to me that "Peaceful Protests" do not work.
What other choices have you got?

2013-07-17 12:17:55 AM

thurstonxhowell: 420Gabriel: You got to to it before me. Arresting anybody that is peacefully protesting is illegal.

Can I peacefully protest in your living room?

No, because your living room is private property. The building the state legislature operates in is a public building, built, maintained by and paid for by the people of the state of North Carolina. They have more right to be there than the legislators.

Can you stop being stupid now, or is that permanent?

A lot of birth defects and other potentially fatal problems arise  after 20 weeks.  What then?  Are you just stuck?

Well then. Lets extend that a little. By that reasoning it should be acceptable to abort a baby/ child/ adult who develops any potentially fatal problems. people used to do that once, but it was considered barbaric and inhumane. Hope you and yours stay healthy.

Magorn: Abortion:
" ..."
but to be fair, Christian Tradition starting with Thomas Acquinas' Summa Theologica cetainly does have something to say about abortion and that is basically that abortion is perfectly lawful and moral up until the time of the "quickening" or roughly the end of the 2nd trimester. More or less exactly waht Roe V. Wade says

I love your post.

Another good one regarding abortion is right from the Bible itself.  Numbers 5: 12-28 describes a process where a woman who was unfaithful to her husband and is found to be impure (i.e. pregnant) is brought before the temple.  She confesses and is given a concoction that, if she is found to be impure, will cause her womb to rot.

God seemed to be perfectly okay with abortion in the case of adultery.

You don't understand what a wedge strategy is.

This isn't a secret...the "pro-lifers" are proud of what they're doing.

And, as others have noted, the hard-core ones are ALREADY going after contraception.

This is all public record...you can't claim to be surprised by any of this.

fredklein: bdub77: You can go into the NC General Assembly and protest, you can even sing and clap and support the people being arrested for a while. They give you a five minute warning, only if you continue after the five minutes will they arrest you for civil disobedience.

Um, NO.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I see you do don't understand the concept of reasonable time/place/manner restrictions.

Z1P2: Fta: 800 people have been arrested since April

More like the same 100 people have been arrested 8 times, can you say AstroTurf protest? I wonder who is paying those protesters and if they can be held liable for the cost to the state of their illegal behavior if they were paying them with instructions to try and get arrested. I wonder if RICO statutes could be applied as well.

Yeah, because everyone who protests for women's rights is actually a paid shill for FemNaziCoTM.  But they jealously guard their secrets, so you'd better go to ground fast, before the pink helicopters arrive.

were they demonstrating from Republican created "free speech zones"?

Irony of irony.
That "free speech zone photo you provide is of the Democratic Convention, 2008
link

Nice lie. Do you, like your hero believe that if you tell it often enough people will believe it?

Actually, it's not a lie. Just because the picture is a "free speech zone" at the Democratic convention doesn't mean Bush it wasn't a practice that was greatly expanded under Bush.

Here's the actual article about the picture

Here's the article with citations about Bush expanding the free speech zones. Link

So how exactly is the statement a lie as you claim?

That's the beauty of democracy.  They get my vote against late-term abortion, but not for banning contraception.

If they start trying to ban contraception, then I might feel compelled to write a strongly-worded letter.

For all of you atheists, if Darwin wants you to die, then you should accept that your genes are inferior and voluntarily remove yourself from the gene pool instead of frantically grasping at life.  Any woman, who would kill her unborn child, obviously has some severe defect that Darwin is trying to point out to us.  She should be removed from society for the good of the human race.
