So basically, Matthew Berry dropped a note to Drew letting him know that his book, "Fantasy Life" was coming out, and that his publisher was willing to give a free copy to a few Farkers. They asked how best to do it, so we thought it might be fun to mention a few things from the book and turn it into a quiz. Since these are all stories from the book, you probably will be guessing at a lot, but some of the stories you may have heard before.

The quiz is 12 questions, and the quiz will be closed tonight at midnight Eastern. I'll be confirming the winners in this thread tomorrow.

Good luck and have fun.

Pride cutoff line: I let Drew take the quiz first and he scored 752 with his guesses. Obviously he's ineligible, but that's the score to beat.

2013-07-16 12:09:31 PM
Two correct!

2013-07-16 12:10:24 PM
For anybody that's interested in the book but doesn't get a good enough score, here's the link to the book if you want to check it out:  http://www.fantasylifethebook.com/

Also, I can't believe Drew's still in the lead.

5 out of 12 correct, total points = 263

Guessed on every one.

Guessed on every one.

Since the book is just out now, unless people have heard one or more of these stories from Berry himself, it's likely that everyone will be guessing.

UPDATE: Since Drew got lucky on his guesses and he's ineligible to receive the prize, I'll offer his free book to another Farker if Drew is still on the leaderboard tonight. Just shoot me an email.

Currently third. Doubt that holds up though.

778 and the lead.  I have no idea how that happened.

408.  fark it.

2013-07-16 12:29:12 PM
Its Matthew Berry, shouldn't the lowest score win?

2013-07-16 12:32:23 PM
9/12 723 points

2013-07-16 12:33:19 PM
I picked 'C' for every question and I didn't win. I thought this was supposed to be a quiz for Farkers.

Anyway, the rest of you nerds have fun.

his fantasy advice is usually crap, why do i want his book?

2013-07-16 12:34:31 PM
9/12. 637. Probably won't hold up.

2013-07-16 12:36:05 PM
Damn, 641 good enough for 3rd in the eligible standings! I definitely guessed on about 10 of them.

505. I sincerely believe a lot of those require [citation needed]

Dead for Tax Reasons: his fantasy advice is usually crap, why do i want his book?

Judging from the questions, I don't think it's advice; I think it's just "funny" stories about fantasy.

2013-07-16 12:39:33 PM
I did poorly. 5/12.

2013-07-16 12:43:40 PM
I'm on the leaderboard, but I skimmed a pre-release copy a while ago and was trying to see how much I actually remembered. I already have the book, so take me off if I stay up there.

For Farkers considering the purchase, if you like Berry and the more non-analysis stuff he puts in his columns and podcasts, you'll like the book a lot. If you don't, you'll find it insufferable.

2013-07-16 12:47:20 PM
So uh... on that "which guy had the best fantasy day" question... is there something I'm missing?

2013-07-16 12:47:38 PM
I did horribly. Not "Mike Vick's really gonna do well for the Eagles this season" horribly, but...

2013-07-16 12:48:10 PM
I just realized I probably should've deleted the answer part of that. Whoops.

2013-07-16 12:48:50 PM
9/12, 718, decent but probably won't be enough for top ten.

2013-07-16 12:48:53 PM
If I win, I wish to forgo the book and only ask Mr. Berry if can get ESPN to stop Tebowing(noun- To hype a player who has done nothing to earn said hype) Yasiel Puig.

I got an advance copy so I could write the questions; I'll put the page numbers up tomorrow after the quiz is closed (note: page numbers will be related to the hardcover version)

That's a lot of it; there were also some personal stories from him about his journey from writing screenplays to what he's doing now. Admittedly, I only skimmed it because I was looking for question material for the quiz.

It's Question 5:

Question 5: Sometimes, one player has such a performance that if you picked that one player, you were pretty much guaranteed to win that week. Point-wise, which of the following outstanding NFL performances was the best of all time

I can't figure out how the right answer according to the quiz results scores more than the answer I chose.  Being intentionally vague here.

Everybody on the top-10 leaderboard will get a book. I'll give Drew's copy to the first Farker who didn't make the leaderboard and shoots me an email to request it.

Had to have been a case of just clicking without reading. It should be about how many are gotten correct while using the points as a tie breaker.

It should be noted that standard fantasy scoring allows for 2 bonus points for rushing or passing TDs of 40 yards or more, of which he had 2. And a PR touchdown, which isn't listed in the quiz.

I think it's the unlisted Punt Return TD that is putting him over the top.

Well, there's no way you can get any of that information from the quiz choices, so it's a poorly written question if you want to accept the current correct answer as right.

1 out of 12 correct, total points = 61

that's good right lol??

In the book, there's a breakdown of some of the best individual fantasy performances by NFL players in history. When scored, the three fantasy performances broke down to 55 points, 54 points, and 52 points. You would pick the one performance that you believe would have earned the fantasy player 55 points.

I agree.

Unfreakable: You would pick the one performance that you believe would have earned the fantasy player 55 points

I understand that, but that stat line left off a TD for Sayers in the quiz. The listed stat line doesn't score 55 points.

I went with how it was scored in the book, but I did change the wording of the question from "points wise" to "in terms of fantasy points" to be less vague. Sorry about that if that's the confusing part for a lot of people, since the book is about fantasy leagues and fantasy gaming, I thought that the "points-wise" would seem to refer to fantasy points rather than the official game score.

I had to go look it up and his PR TD isn't listed on like half of the sites about it. Seems to be an epidemic.
