How long till CNN has a story on how the high heat  could possibly increase racial tension after the Zman verdict?

To be followed up with:

Do black people in American like summer as much as the rest of us?  Do they perceive heat like we do?

Speaking of stupid....
Hottest day of the year and they're doing upkeep on the AC in the senior apartments my mother-in-law lives in.
"Let's shut off the old folks AC on a 100 degree index day!"

I don't know about you guys, but yesterday I enjoyed watching Erin Burnett show clips of Bart Simpson calling Moe's tavern and Bill O'Reilly read letters from "Jack Mehoffer" as relevant items for a discussion about the California news station botching the Asiana pilots' names.

Temperatures in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest will reach the 90s for the next few days, but that's not the bad part. Heat indices are expected to soar well past 100 degrees, the National Weather Service said. Heat indices represent how hot the weather feels, based on the actual temperature and humidity.

Wow, "well past 100". Happened to do the Heat Index thing after reading a story about a storm in Phoenix that hit and brought the humidity up, but didn't drop the temp. Pretty standard summer weather during the monsoon season there.

113 degrees
50% humidity
Heat Index of 164

I usually wasn't sympathetic OR impressed when I lived in Phoenix, because everyone else's adjusted temp was still 5-10(or more) degrees lower than Arizona's actual temp.

2013-07-16 11:21:06 AM
Compared to the last oh, ten years, this year's summer so far in VA has been completely tolerable and even kinda nice at times.  I still hate humidity though.

There's no point in doing upkeep during the winter, nobody is using the AC anyway. And it's just one day. Your mother-in-law will get over it.

ft worth is a balmy 80* at the moment!
i think average for this day would have the temp somewhere around 95-98* at this time of day. this 3 days of much needed rain is going to be sorely missed when we get back to 100+ by the end of the week

North of you, but yeah, last summer we got summer cabin fever because we hit 100 with high humidity for 18 days in a row or some sh*t. This summer is kicking ass so far. We've only hit 100 once.

It's not the heat...it's the oppression.  and maybe the humidity, but I really think it's the oppression that makes my fingers puffy when I step outside.

Funny...my utility company was just reporting yesterday that it wasn't summer yet, so they still charged me the (higher) winter utility rates for all that air conditioning I ran in 105 degree weather.
