Dumb Criminals Manual:

Rule 186#  Don't put 911 on speed dial
Rule 187#  Deactivate all mobil devices when on a job

This seems to happen with improbably frequency.
It almost makes me want to go all conspiracy theorist and infer someone has technology to use phones as full time microphones which activate a call to 911 when illicit information is broadcast.  Almost.

I predict this will soon no longer qualify for "News of the Weird," because it happens too often. Just like criminals getting caught because they tripped over their low-hanging pants.

Well, the NSA has the capability to listen to everything everywhere, so if they just concentrated on people breaking their normal habits and going strange places, they'll hear people involved in drug deals, trespass, and adultery.  Also freepers going on camping trips to discuss things with their other gun-toting friends.

Well, I guess I'll be the first to congratulate the dispatcher for doing more than assuming it was just a butt dial and quickly hanging up to get that next call stat.

911 is very easy to butt dial if you have your phone locked with a passcode or pattern.  Most of them pop up an "emergency call" button on the 2nd or 3rd failed attempt.

1. Dumb flip-phones are smarter than smartphones. Especially when you are doing something illegal and/or dumb.
2. Not only was the middle man taken out, at least one comma was also caught in the crossfire of writing the headline.
3. Stuff your crappy looking mobile site.

Is this where we mention the importance of a comma?

I think it's a matter of idiots doing a lot of butt dialing and criminals being idiots.
