skozlaw: I've had a "free" upgrade with VZW for more than five years now. I considered using it a few months back but they wanted to slap on a $30 "upgrade" fee.
TheChaosPath: I'm happy to have Ting now. Sure, it piggybacks off of Sprint's network, which can be pretty spotty, but I say goddamn that $80 reduction in the monthly bill sure feels nice.
Gig103: I hate "analysts" and greedy shareholders who expect contant growth. As if their current fees weren't raking in billions, they need more? I understand their job is to make money, but they are doing a great job at that - sales aren't down, they just aren't up as much as investors want. Ugh, shouldn't the FCC be watching this sort of stuff like they do for power companies and other utilities?
m053486: THIS is why I got out of cellphone sales. The screw-you fees got to my conscious."Oh, you'd like to renew your contract with us, which will increase your monthly bill, lock you into another two years, and require you to buy a new phone...here's a $35 fee for the pleasure."Best meeting ever: sat in a marketing/SWOT meeting with our CEO. Customers who renewed over the phone could have the renewal fee waived. CEO's rationale was that they weren't taking up time in our brick & mortars, therefore could reap the savings. He failed to realize that nearly EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER that bought a phone over the phone then had to bring it into a store to have it activated, contacts/pics transferred, etc. Told our CEO he was full of crap and quit mid-meeting.Cell phone companies are a farking scam, and even worse so when run by rednecks./nTelos...don't do it
