I truly feel like there is a board in some conference room where they just have a bunch of nouns to string together. Even MST3k couldn't do a sendup of this drivel.

/although I did watch 5 minutes of Sharknado, meh

Someday the "Syfy" channel is going to run out of things to add a shark to, and then what are they going to do?

Oh there's so much more:

Shark Tank (M1 Abrams + Shark)
Sharkeor (Space sharks who crash land in Kansas)
Sharkyser (Sharks who use underground streams and come out of geysers)
Sharkerschmitt (WWII Period piece where the nazi's blended sharks to planes)
Electroshark (Think 'Shocker' or the one from Gremlins 2)
Terrorshark (Middle eastern desert sharks who can swim in sand have been brought to ::gasp:: Nevada!)

You can go on forever...

Ah, yes, this is where SyFy tries to claim that ever-important hipster audience, by ironically pushing their shiatty movies to keep their profits up as most of the channel's original fans have walked the fark away.

Please, let the "shiatty SyFy movie balloon" just pop at this point. It's sad that SF fans have to go to BBC or TNT to see actual SF, because the channel that claims to serve the SF niche now just pushes shiatty movies, shiatty reality TV, and wrestling.

Syfy's CEO has said she doesn't like SF. Sort of like how Cartoon Network's CEO was more interested in putting Live Action TV on the channel, or ordering MOAR BEN 10 while canning GOOD shows like Young Justice.

Or like how The Learning Channel and History Channel are about a bunch of reality TV shows, conspiracy theories and fictional things like Mermaids.

Wow... that just made me angry.

...indeed.

"Ghost Shark" makes Birdemic look like Citizen Kane. The only thing that would make me watch that is if there is a Rifftrax to accompany it.

As for SyFy, there are so many great science fiction stories to bring to life, with a motivated, talented group of filmmakers and actors, it could be done on a reasonable budget, too. Instead, we get crapped on.

I blame Bonnie Hammer and her ilk... idiots who HATE the genre channel they are put in charge of and decide to turn it into something else entirely (and fail miserably at everything, then get rewarded for failing)

The channel isn't "failing", though. That's the problem - as long as you're looking at that channel as a business, it's raking in the dough. Sure, it's viewership is low, but as their costs are lower (because they're pushing shiatty programming and selling advertising on it), it's still in the black.

That's all that matters to her, and just as importantly, the people paying her. No one gives a rat's rancid rectum - hell, a brief social media flurry based on irony and satire got their viewership up to watch a craptacular chunk of celluloid condemnation, and they're excited as hell about it because they managed to sell lots more advertising. They don't care that the programming itself sucks - as long as it's profitable.

They should have chosen the small embedded video size, the one they had was far too big.
