There is something so comforting in her soft-spoken confidence. She doesn't rise to their provocation. She doesn't match their over-bearing "let me tell you how it is" condescension. She doesn't ignore the questions just to spout talking points.  She answers their questions. Calmly. Respectfully.  I know almost nothing about her, but I think I need to learn more.

I think being a state champion debater at age 17 has a lot to do with how she approaches a discussion with people that disagree with her.

His attempt to use the attack of a failed Senate candidate falling flat our subject switches to the catchphrase of a failed presidential candidate. Chances of being able to create thoughts of his own: low. Chance of adding anything of substance: nil.

I love how Wall St. and the Banking Lobby have gone on record with "Reinstating Glass-Steagall won't do anything at all, but we're going to fight it tooth and nail all the way and at the very least pay off a bunch of politicians to make sure it gets completely watered down!"

We need to bring back some nice old timey customs for the banking industry, like tarring and feathering or guillotines.

"From 1797 to 1932, we averaged a boom-and-bust every 15 years or so. Between Glass-Steagall and the 1980s, we had zero."
"BUT WHAT ABOUT CONTINENTAL ILLINOIS?!?!?!?! 7th largest bank in the country!"

One bank in 70 years is rock-solid proof against when the status quo ante was THE SYSTEM crashing every decade and a half? WTF are you smoking?

// that's like saying "we spent a billion dollars on counterterrorism in 1999, and then 9/11 happened, so we shouldn't spend anything on counterterrorism"

Therefore, everything she says is wrong and Scott Brown is immediately declared the greatest financial mind of the 21st Century, right?

I mean, isn't that why you brought it up?  You think pointing something as pointless as that out instantly nullifies anything, no matter how correct, she has to say?

Just wait until you guys find out that she claimed to have enjoyed her grandmother's meatloaf even though, deep inside, she absolutely hated it.  I'm sure the navel-gazers of the 101st Chairborne will rally the troops to impeach her.

Please use definite or indefinite article, otherwise sound like caveman.

Also, "You didn't build that" was referring to the roads and infrastructure that lets businesses prosper. You DIDN'T build the roads. You DIDN'T built the power lines. You DIDN'T build the Internet. These were community and government efforts.

Also, her big bad "lie" was being told she was fractionally native American by her family, them and through them her being mistaken (it was part of her "family folklore). At ABSOLUTE WORST she was misinformed about her extended family. It wasn't a lie, just being incorrect about something that didn't actually do anything for her (Harvard has said repeatedly it wasn't a factor for her hiring).

Or, the next time you need a bailout, the US gov't buys in as the controlling interest.  And you can buy your bank back with money you make...  at subprime rates, because clearly you're too incompetent to run a business responsibly.

I thought that this was an exaggeration until I visited my dad in Montana, and the FOX radio affiliate literally listed talking points on each "issue" every morning.  No defense on why their position was correct, or the "libby von libbenstein fascist socialist America-destroying" viewpoint was wrong, just basically, "If a libtard says this, this is how you should respond".  Awesome.
