Duh! That's the entire point of virtual worlds. To be able to act as you wish rather than put other people's needs and wants or practical concerms before your own pleasure. They are an escape from the adult world.

I think the entire population, as a whole, has regressed.  It wasn't THAT long ago that people were practically adults at age 14.   Now they're in their 20s and 30s and still have pre-pubescent mentalities.   The concept of a teenager didn't even exist 100 years ago.

A lot of people regard the entire internet as a virtual world where they can act and do as they wish just because there's no physical contact or usually no actual voice. It's not real but yet they can run up a huge bill on their credit card for virtual cows on a Facebook game, get real criminal charges for harassment, or break up their real marriage with Skype chats with some other dolt they met over a forum.

Okay, last one.

Adults were either placed in a virtual four-year-old body or an adult body scaled down to the same size.

It was found that participants in the child's body overestimated the size of objects and identified better with child-like attributes.

That explains a lot about people who play gnomes on WoW.

Some yes, some no. Have you forgotten a certain Greek quote from 200 B.C.?

It could be because people had less leisure time back then, and usually worked and got married at younger ages.  Younger people had more responsibilities than those of today who in comparison are spoiled brats.

haha. ;) I mean this one:

Socrates (469-399 B.C.) The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents ...

Sure sounds to be typical teenage behaviour to me.

Nothing new here; virtual worlds have been a playground for childish adults for years (http://metro.co.uk/2006/12/22/pink-penis-attack-on-second-life-chat- sh ow-3433996/).

Presented with two rooms, adults in a child-like body chose a child-like room

Well, why wouldn't you?  The room on the left looks a hell of a lot cooler than the one on the right, especially if the furniture's your size.

Or "tinies" in Second Life.
