UsikFark: Lsherm: fetal alcohol syndrome

Nope. For one, his nose has a bridge. Remember you're looking at a (bad) picture of the dude who's a senior citizen for a book jacket, not the kind of thing you would make a medical diagnosis from. Google "adult with FAS" and you'll see it's pretty distinct. He also doesn't have the mental disabilities.

Actually, as far as King pictures go, that's not a bad one.  He's just an odd looking man.

I'm a big fan of his, so I agree he doesn't have mental disabilities, but something is off in that man's head, in a good way.

abhorrent1: fake story is fake.

Of course it is. Everybody knows that these days Poles only do kompot.

FTFCAPTION:  "Curcumin the naturally occurring compound in turmeric may protect against lung damage in premature infants"

Huh?

Gonz: scottydoesntknow: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be .45 and 0.02 for the numbers. .45 is insane enough (.4 is usually enough to cause respiratory failure and coma). At 4.5, your blood contains more alcohol than some domestic beers.

Yes, that article was poorly written.

At .45, a person would be amazingly inebriated. And their blood would be about as alcoholic as orange juice. I don't support the mother here in any way, shape, or form, but if the baby was at 4.5, then so was Mom, and that's not really possible. If someone tried to ease into that BAC, they'd pass out. If they tried to chug their way there, they'd puke.

At the ER where I volunteer we had a guy that walked in, not stumbled, that had a .576. He left against medical advice because he needed to go get a heroin fix. We also had a woman that would come in regularly above a .50. She died.

23 times the legal limit OF WHAT?!  There is no legal limit to how drunk someone can be.  And a BABY DOESN'T DRIVE.

scottydoesntknow: "The unborn baby was in severe danger of being poisoned to death," said hospital spokesman Wojciech Zawalski. "When he came out of his heart was barely beating and he had 4.5g of alcohol in his blood."

The blood-alcohol limit for drivers in Poland is 0.2g, meaning the infant was born at nearly 23 times the drink-drive limit.

Either way she's a horribly disgusting excuse for a human being.

Some of my cousins have a friend who popped out a FAS baby. They like to parade him as a reason to be "pro-life."

/why yes, they are teenage girls living out in the sticks

"For most of us our first taste of alcohol comes in college."

Really? Everyone I know started in junior high. 8th grade for me. Have almost 4 decades behind me of solid drinking.

So at what point do we stop measuring blood alcohol content and start measuring the alcohol blood content?

Also does Poland just go by total alcohol in you, or is there a unit of volume missing in the article?

Luckily the kid is Polish and will have plenty of help changing light bulbs and the like throughout the remainder of his under-developed life.

It's the European measurement, which is grams per deciliter or some communiss' math like that.

But she wouldn't be a horrible person if she had poisoned her baby with an abortion drug?
