"The unborn baby was in severe danger of being poisoned to death," said hospital spokesman Wojciech Zawalski. "When he came out of his heart was barely beating and he had 4.5g of alcohol in his blood."

The blood-alcohol limit for drivers in Poland is 0.2g, meaning the infant was born at nearly 23 times the drink-drive limit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be .45 and 0.02 for the numbers. .45 is insane enough (.4 is usually enough to cause respiratory failure and coma). At 4.5, your blood contains more alcohol than some domestic beers.

Either way she's a horribly disgusting excuse for a human being.

That's because the "legal limit" is laughably low for babies.

It's the European measurement, which is grams per deciliter or some communiss' math like that.

Well I did learn something funny about Poland and their DUI laws while looking it up. Apparently almost half of the people imprisoned for DUI offenses were on a bicycle.

The truly terrifying part here is that Poland allows infants to drive.

If it was 4.5 actual grams of alcohol in the blood and .2 g/dL being the legal limit in Poland (though I think they use permille in Poland which would be 2 g/L). A newborn baby typically has about 1 liter of blood in their body, so the baby had the equivalent of half a beer in them and was a little more than twice the legal limit, rather than 23 times as stated in the article.

i never had a drink when i was a baby, but i sure coulda used one.

doglover: That's because the "legal limit" is laughably low for babies.

Isn't the "legal limit" zero for babies, since minors aren't allowed to drink alcohol?

Doesn't that also mean that the babies BAC was zero?

/mind blown

Also,

take that kid's drivers license away for at least 18 years

stir22: i never had a drink when i was a baby, but i sure coulda used one.

I was a baby in the 70's.  A little bit of beer never herped mee

I hope they confiscate her ovaries.

What should society do with a mother so irresponsible that she condemns her child to live with the consequences of fetal alcohol syndrome ?

That's going to be on farked up FAS kid. Sad.

How do they know how much blood is in a baby, cut its throat and hang it over a beaker? maybe use a IV and suction pump?

Yes, that article was poorly written.

At .45, a person would be amazingly inebriated. And their blood would be about as alcoholic as orange juice. I don't support the mother here in any way, shape, or form, but if the baby was at 4.5, then so was Mom, and that's not really possible. If someone tried to ease into that BAC, they'd pass out. If they tried to chug their way there, they'd puke.

capt.hollister: What should society do with a mother so irresponsible that she condemns her child to live with the consequences of fetal alcohol syndrome ?

Hang her.  Leave the body up until it starts to stink.  Then bury it in an unmarked grave, strip her existence from all public records and make the mere mention of her name in print or broadcast a hanging offense.

Was expecting the jaws of life rescuing a bottle of single malt.

But such a cute picture of tiny little hands!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

80 proof breast milk has a kick

doglover: That's because the "legal limit" is laughably low for babies.

Yeah, these kids need to either learn to hold their liquor or grow up.

There's half a beer in there? Well crack that baby open, then.

The baby wasn't driving. I don't see why we're giving it crap for having someone else drive it home from the bar.

Yes, but is she hot?

Akbar the Trappiste Monk: Yes, but is she hot?

Eight-hour-olds, Dude.

capt.hollister: What should society do with a mother so irresponsible that she condemns her child to live with the consequences of fetal alcohol syndrome ?

I never put it together, but taken from the wiki page for fetal alcohol syndrome:

Stephen King, a well know reformed drunk:

I wonder if his mother was a drunk...

FTFA: ...is recovering in an intensive care incubator where he is being weened off alcohol.

Push th' litte babies and make 'em throw up!

That's one way of making an Epsilon Minus.

fake story is fake.

Not what I was expecting. But bravo subby, bravo!

damn poor kid.

capt.hollister: What should society do with a mother so irresponsible that she condemns her child to live with the consequences of fetal alcohol syndrome ?

Automatic sterilization.

Wait a minute, there's no legal limit for being a passenger...

/just saying

Dragonflew: FTFA: ...is recovering in an intensive care incubator where he is being weened off alcohol.

That. Was. Awesome.

I leave after the two horrible child neglect stories this morning to come home to this? What the hell is wrong with people?! I didn't win any Mom Awards but good god I could at least keep my mini humans alive and safe. (actually I should've won lots of Mom Awards, but there is no such thing)

My mother ate a pan of lasagna and drank an entire bottle of chianti before she went into labor with me, and I've been heavily indoctrinated with the message that I must never reveal my IQ because it will make other people feel bad.

/I will never forgive her for robbing me of my birthright of genetic perfection and total omnipotence.

Typical baby, always with a bottle it its mouth

got me beat.... best I could ever (legally) muster was .32

probably have had higher but testing was only involved when I somehow failed...

/likes to drink (moderately now)

Sounds like a late-term Texas abortion to me.

They should've had the baby try to walk a straight line.  If it couldn't, they should've arrested it for public intoxication.

Due to her heavy drinking, surgeons were forced to perform an emergency caesarean after the 24-year-old lady collapsed trying to buy even more booze in Tomaszow, Poland, according to various reports

ROLL OUT THE BARREL

Do do do do do do dooooo....

Lsherm: fetal alcohol syndrome

Nope. For one, his nose has a bridge. Remember you're looking at a (bad) picture of the dude who's a senior citizen for a book jacket, not the kind of thing you would make a medical diagnosis from. Google "adult with FAS" and you'll see it's pretty distinct. He also doesn't have the mental disabilities.

look on the bright side, we all know it's still possible to grow up to be president of the U.S.A.!

The blood-alcohol limit for drivers in Poland is 0.2g, meaning the infant was born at nearly 23 times the drink-drive limit.

Since the drink-drive limit only applies to drivers, and the babby wasn't driving, this is a pretty meaningless statement. Kind of like telling someone buying bread that the legal age to buy alcohol is 21 just because both involve purchasing.

abhorrent1: fake story is fake.

Pshaw! All news from Poland is true, and may God pull all my teeth out if they're not
