The prosecution let a woman married to a lawyer who held a ccw on the jury?  Dear lord were they even trying to convict him?

You really have to wonder, and since a book deal doesn;t get negotiated in a day, I wonder when her husband opened negotiations with the publisher?  I also wonder if someone at the publishing house might not have hinted how good a "controversial" verdict would be for sales.

I'd like to see a 1 yr moratorium on all books, memoirs or even media interviews for Jurors in criminal cases..

To be fair, would any verdict NOT have been controversial?

TOO SOON?

Hope she uses a pen-name.

Lots of folks would like to have a "word" with her and her 5 fellow jurors.

Angry, ignorant folks.

Well, if this doesn't PROVE that Zimmerman was really guilty, I don't know what will.

2013-07-15 05:19:35 PM
Voting not guilty is probably better for your book deal in this case because of the riot and protest potential, in other cases  a guilty verdict might be the way to go... It's really something to think about next time you are on a jury.

There were no riots, thankfully.  I wonder what made so very many Zimmerman supporters worry about them so loudly.

FTFA: In addition to exploring Florida self-defense laws, gun control and race relations, the book will show readers "why the jurors had no option but to find Zimmerman not guilty due to the manner in which he was charged and the content of the jury instructions," Martin said.

I was mostly curious to see how this particular juror voted.  If she puts her name or picture on the book she's in for a world of hurt.  If she gets on the talk show circuit she'll make some good money, though.  It sounds like she's going to put the weight of the trial on the prosecution team's shoulders.  Hopefully they'll have a profitable book in retort, since they probably shouldn't be practicing law much longer.

The publishers probably whipped up ready-made "just fill in the name" contracts the moment the trial was announced, and this juror was the first to snap at the deal.

How the hell they turn a day-and-a-half deliberation into a full book is beyond me, though. Maybe it will be all about the wild lesbian daydreams she had about her fellow jurors, with the really juicy ones being enacted by top porn stars in a hundred page photo insert.

I'd buy the audiobook version, so long as it's narrated by Gilbert Gottfried.

The mob called for a trial when there shouldn't have been one in the first place. Then the same mob complains when the publicity they helped create is used for profit. Tough luck. Your media-fed biases helped created this spectacle and the people who got stuck in the middle of it have every right to profit off of it.

NickelP: The prosecution let a woman married to a lawyer who held a ccw on the jury?  Dear lord were they even trying to convict him?

He's a lawyer, but in what capacity? Trial lawyer? Divorce lawyer? Bankruptcy lawyer? Real estate lawyer? PROSECUTOR?

Anyway, her being married to an attorney MIGHT give her further insight into legal procedure, but I don't see why that would necessarily influence her to vote one way or another.

Also regarding the CCW permit - why should that be a problem? Are CCW holder inherently EVIL? A buddy has an office in the same plaza as a gun store, and they are always *very* busy, and you would be amazed at the variety of people that frequent that store - black, white, Hispanic, Asian (lots of cops). They may be driving brand new luxury cars or old, beat up pick-up trucks. Some of them are walking in open-carry, others concealed, and some are just there to buy accessories. The owners and employees are ALWAYS wearing open-carry sidearms.

No, ass crass and idiotic as her book deal might be, I do not see why her marriage to an attorney or her former CCW status should have disqualified her as an impartial juror.
