What's the conversion for megahertz-to-fahrenheit?

So they've reached 80-ish degrees? Good for them.

Wait, they had to cancel trains? Who's running things over there? The London Silly Nannies?

Yuk it up, blowhards. We'll laugh at you next winter when an inch of snow totally f**ks up your mad dash to Walmart for bread, milk & ammo.

The heat index will reach 100+ in DC every day for this week.

I'm playing the world's meltiest violin for you, Londoners.

wish it were 88.5F here in NYC today. It's 93F right now and feels like 102.

Oh, and fark humidity.

The shriveled parchment-like sun dried remains of my heart really goes out to those folks.

/today, at 89F, is likely to be the coolest day for the next six weeks here.

I live in the asshole of the worlds weather system, we get ALL the shiat. So yeah it's gonna be melty hot here with 140% humidity for weeks and then lots of snow come February. We have had school cancelled because of extreme hot and extreme cold temperature with no other accompanying weather. I hate this place.

when I was stationed in Cornwall we had a 4th of July celebration on the base.

It was 45 degrees(Fahrenheit) that day.

There was an inch of snow in the south of England last year that shut. down. everything.

We'll get plenty of snow this winter, plus we'll got 15-20 days in the summer where the head index is well over 100F. It's called the mid-atlantic, and no matter the time of year, it sucks to be us.

Meh.  -20°F (-28°C) the first year I moved to Idaho and they still didn't cancel school.

I'll laugh long and loud when your Muslim immigrants outpopulate you, install Shariah and start civil wars over who durkah'd harder 1,400 years ago.  Bon apetit!

90 whole degrees?

That's nearly as hot as the room we have our dehumidifier in.

The low 90s feels cool and refreshing here these days. I'd heap scorn, but all that fact really proves is that I chose to live in a blasted, pollen-infested valley on the wrong side of a coastal mountain range.

It's been over 90 for 2 of the last 3 weeks in Boston. And that is after a winter where it snowed 3 feet overnight.

I am guessing the 90% humidity and no air conditioning doesn't help the UK. You know you are fancy when you have a small portable fan in that country.

Reached 116 degrees where I live two weeks ago. And can have 6-12 inches of snow during the winter at any given point. And I am totally stocked up on ammo. So, stuff it up your limey, bitter arse.

2013-07-15 02:12:43 PM
88.5 F is enough to shut down railways and lead to heat wave alerts?

Good Lord, I had no idea it was so much cooler there.. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever hear a Brit complaining about it being just above 90.

That's probably closer to 105 for me.

88F? Awwww you poor things. /sarcasm
After raining for a month straight and flooding everywhere, we've had nothing but 90F+ and high humidity for the last month. The coolest it's been is about 78F, and that was at 3 AM with even higher humidity than we've been having during the days. Granted, this is normal for Central/Upstate NY at this time of year. All that considered, it's still a million times better here than living in North Carolina.

Austin is in the 70'sF right now with constant drizzle.  Its like some sort of farking bizzarro world.  88.5F in the UK......we call that a nice mild spring at night here usually.  You can tell the start of summer in Texas by the squirrels exploding in the trees.

2013-07-15 02:17:42 PM
They don't have a lot of buildings with AC there, so sustained temperatures of 88+ could start to suck.

When I was last there the locals were all apologizing for the two-week 75 and sunny "heat wave" - I could only chuckle.

Let it get hot out. I'm going to spend this weekend photographing naked women cavorting in the sunshine. The heat suits me just fine.

Hmm... our temperatures here range from -50degF to 112degF, and we've seen 263" of snowfall in a single year in our state. Snow doesn't bother us here in the US.

Even Hawaii gets a couple of inches of snowfall a year, and they aren't SHUTTING. DOWN. EVERYTHING. as the UK seems to be doing under the "rail-buckling" temperatures of 88degF. Lordy... you guys might need to buy a fan or something!

Japan heatwave kills 12: reports

a57.foxnews.com

The mercury has topped 35 degrees celsius (95 degrees fahrenheit) in areas right across the country for several days, with no immediate end to the misery in sight, forecasters say.

Thousands of people have been taken to hospital suffering from heatstroke or exhaustion, with at least 12 of them dying, Jiji Press and other media reported.

Thousands!?!

It may seem strange to drink at first but if you add a bit of sweetener, maybe some lemon or mint it will go down easy....it could save yer life.

There, I just saved a million English from certain death, send me a post card, yer welcome.

Supposed to hit mid-90s here in the midwest this week with swamp-ass inducing humidity. Still not as god-awful as last summer where it was mid-90s every week with occasional forays into the 100s.

/killed my PS3 it did
//and last summer, the evenings rarely got below the upper-70s, which sucks all sorts of ass at night
///made the mistake of drinking heavily one night during the heat surge - no way to cool off at night made it all come up in the morning
////slashies wonder how the British ever controlled India for so long...

I'm more worried that a section of the M25 melted on Saturday. But for all of you Amurricans laughing at us for biatching and moaning: it's what we do over here now. I'm sure we're going to somehow place the blame on this on the EU or immigrants or footballers. But in all seriousness, our buildings are simply not designed not built for long hot summers. We have fark all air conditioning outside of most work places plus we never ever get summers like this - the norm is the high 70s/low 80s for the majority when it's actually nice, with rain rain rain and cloud for the rest of it. And that goes for the rest of the infrastructure in the country too

2013-07-15 02:37:19 PM
110 in the summer, 4 feet of snow overnight in the winter. Oh, and level-5 killerdeathwindstorms in between.

April is nice.

Jet Stream is F'd up!
NorthEast, USA has been alternating between torrential downpours and 90degrees and HIGH HIGH Humidity. Worst year for weather and 'summer' I can remember in a long long time.
