"People were afraid a guilty verdict would have resulted in riots. Thank god #Zimmerman's verdict only resulted in white pride fireworks," tweeted Sana Saeed, a senior editor at Islawmix, a project of Harvard Law's Berkman Center for Internet and Society.

She then called for a civil-rights investigation of Don Zimmer.

It's a shame that between this and Snowden the left's equivalent of the Tea Party has been drawn out of whatever rock they have been under.

Oh Philly...your fans and citizens can be outright scary.  You might not like my teams, but we have some of the same.  Like it or not, we're in this together.  We'll get through it.

Zimmerman flew... And fireworks too

South Philly doesn't use fireworks. They prefer to celebrate their racism with D-Cell batteries and snowballs.

Or they could be unfamiliar with baseball and the fact that baseball teams have fireworks shows and therefore unfamiliar with when the Phillies are shooting off fireworks. If they don't know any of this, then I can see how they could see the verdict announced and then a short time later fireworks going off and assume what they did.

Same shiat happens around here all summer long with the White Sox fireworks shows. People unfamiliar with baseball will assume that the fireworks are for something else, and ask why fireworks are being shot of for it, and you have to slowly explain to them the link between baseball and fireworks shows.

Don't forget the San Francisco fans celebrating  Lincecum's no hitter.

Idiots on CNN thought it was protesting the verdict.

Prosecution doesn't prove the case. . .not guilty.

Can't even come to the sports tab to get away from this Zimmerman nonsense.

It's gotta only be tourists though right?  It didn't take me too long living within hearing distance of 20-30 fireworks shows a year before I stopped caring too much what any of them were for.

Philadelphia - the city that can just not quite bring itself to be Detroit, but almost.

Ordinarily I would agree 100% with this, but these are Phillies fans we're talking about here.  Is it really that completely outside the realm of reality to believe that Phillies fans might be celebrating the verdict?  Perhaps not.

Call me when a smattering of people on social media get funded by shadowy donors and never stop biatching until the entire government is derailed.

I was not aware that Philly fans had a reputation for being racists as well as assholes.

Not anywhere in the city.  That would be suicide.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: Not anywhere in the city. That would be suicide.

The Northeast is the city, technically.

Dunno, but I think it's always safe to assume the worst about each and every aspect of their personalites.

I would guess that a handful of slurs might arise if a person of color were on the opposing team, however if one played and has for the Flyers, nothing would be said.  Stupid, but not really racist.

It took me a minute to realize islawmix was short for Internet and Society Law Mix (or whatever), instead of some play on the word "Islamic".

Whoops.

So one random person tweets something stupid, and it turns into a news article?

Also, how dumb is this person that they would even assume these two events are related. "Fireworks in Philly at 1 am, court verdict in Florida hours earlier? Obviously them racists are celebratin'!"

Somebody from Harvard Law, the same group that stocks most of the United States Supreme Court, jumping to a stupid conclusion? What else would one expect from those arrogant farktards?

Are we getting a derby thread so we can make fun of Chris Berman more?

Sadly, not surprised. Especially after hearing some of the speeches given for the Philly 4th of July celebrations.
