I drive past the sign to Potato World fairly often and I have to wonder how many visitors it gets. Although I'm sure it's the most exciting attraction in all of Carleton county, I just cannot imagine a museum about potatoes being on anyone's must-see list.

I'd keep a lid on that story, if I were you.

By coincidence, I just happen to be in Florenceville-Bristol, New Brunswick (well, technically no, but within sight of it) collecting photos for my family tree. I have scanned over 350 so far, including some individuals who lived in Florenceville or Bristol within the last century or two.

There was a photo of the painting in the Telegraph-Journal of Saint-John and I caught part of a TV news story on it although I did not notice that it had anything to do with Florenceville-Bristol at the time.

As Fark's Man on the Spot Roving Reporter, I will be back with a scan in a moment if I can figure out how to post.

That was a lot of work. No wonder I don't do Photoshop contests. Live and learn. Something for my bucket list--that is to say, the things I plan to leave undone when I kick the bucket. I know that's not the orthodox definition. That's MY idea of a bucket list. I like my way better.

He would have to be named Kerry O'Toole, wouldn't he?

The colouring and style are reminiscent of Van Gogh's paintings from the South of France.

The stuff he did from the mental asylum in particular.

A nice piece of folk art.

He began at 8:00 pm on Tuesday and finished midday on Friday. The article does not say whether this included cooking and cooling time for the French fries. Seeing as the painting contains 30 kg (66 pounds) of patatas, the cooking time may have been considerable unless he simply thawed and freeze-dried them. I am assuming that they are McCain Straight Cut French Fries. God forbid that he use Cavendish (Irving-owned) potatoes. McCains makes a premium frozen French fry. I also like the Smilies made with mashed potatoes. You can dip them into ketchup and pretend they are redheads (girls) or guys with head wounds (boys). Or vice versa. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

A time-lapse of the creation of the painting has been posted on YouTube by Pierre La Forest of JPIC Studios. It was created from 3,600 photos a day.

Day One is pretty dull.

Here's Day Two and Day Three

Save time (and possibly an advert) by going to Day Three unless you have already watched the first day.
