I missed the first hour, but I got to see Agar and Starc fall in quick succession. D'Oh!

Siddle and Haddin look like they're going to throw the bat a bit and trust to luck.

Me too.  Got back from my Sunday morning bike ride, put the radio on and literally the first delivery I heard was Agar edging to slip.  Nice

And it's 9!

2013-07-14 07:33:46 AM
Haddin was so lucky not to play on there.

And as I write Cook takes a screamer to make up for his previous drop. Damn.

One more wicket left.

Now this is a good way to set up the Ashes.

2013-07-14 07:57:05 AM
Fifty for Haddin. Smashes three fours in a row and less than 50 required. Oh, who am I kidding?

2013-07-14 07:57:56 AM
England need to contain Haddin.  Lots of boundaries in these 2 overs.  Eesh.

Finn's having a meltdown. Time for Joe Root.

2013-07-14 08:04:45 AM
Finn cuts Pattinson in two and it goes for four byes. LOL.

CLOSE! -Aus 283-9
Could someone please tell the English cricket team that this isn't horseshoes?

Nice to see England being such sportsman.  Isn't that contrary to the spirit of the game?

2013-07-14 08:36:23 AM
And they've survived the session...That was farking intense.

Can't shake the feeling that Anderson is going to wrap it up in his first over after lunch.

one wicket vs 20 runs
This crazy.

Australia has been kept alive by the 10th wicket pair in both innings.
England should be disappointed in the top of their order - between them, Cook/Root/Trott/Pieterson should have accounted for another 100 runs in each innings.  Poor batting from England.

Cook and Pieterson have both gotten 50s in this match and Trott got 48 in the first innings.

Try having Ed Cowan in your lineup. Nice guy, but he can't bat for shiat.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE JUST TAKE A WiCKET!

A tie will do, really

Yeah, but Cook and Peiterson got 13 and 14 in their first innings; and Trott was out first ball in the second.

Would it be too much to ask for England to take this last wicket like real soon after lunch?

One way or another, it'll be over soon.  Since we've apparently been hiding our best batsmen at number eleven, it may not actually be to the cheers of the crowd . . .

Here we go.

Like I said earlier, I think Anderson's gonna finish it in his first over.

Graeme there's a proper English first name

2013-07-14 09:19:32 AM
And with those 3 runs the bookmakers now have both teams at 1.90

England were down to 1.01 earlier. Australia got out to at least 20.00

2013-07-14 09:23:42 AM
England wins it!

Anti-climactic way to end the game. Oh well.

Great Test.

Oh God that was tense... What an outstanding game of cricket, shame the umpiring was a bit dicky.

Right then, Mont Ventoux...

Heaven help us, no.  There ought to be one or two easy victories in the next 8 months.

I think this was Australia's greatest chance of getting a win and they didn't manage it. Far more England players underperformed than Australian players and i don't think Englands batsmen will be as bad next time.

Roll on the next game as this series will be a cracker.

I think I probably agree.  England's 215 first up was a shocking underperformance, but something they tend to do on the first day of the first test with horrible regularity. They may not be so dreadful again. Ironicaly, England's worst batsman over the last 18 months hit the match's only century and may have batted himself into some form. Australia's 200+ runs added by tenth-wicket stands was amazing, but that's not the kind of thing you can rely on.  But ... the openers are useful, Clarke is great, Hughes looks ok and the tail is capable of wagging...

Bring on Lords

That's the new Aussie secret tactic of putting our best batsmen at the bottom of the order...
