That's going to get some votes for headline of the year.

2013-07-14 02:04:49 AM

In the immortal words of Mr. Timothy LeRoy Lincecum:

F*CK YEAH!!!

Yet, all I hear on ESPN is how Puig should be an All-Star...

Yeah, it was better than mine (though a similar theme): Tim Lincecum smokes Padres and throws no-hitter, the first time the phrases "Tim Lincecum" and "no hits" have ever been used in the same sentence

Is it time for me to come in and ruin all the fun? No?

Ok, well, someone let me know when it is.

Yes, he had a ton of defensive support. It's still awesome to see though.

Hey, I dropped what I was doing to watch the end. It was very exciting.

It was also the second best pitching performance of the day.

Not according to your fantasy points.  You truly deserve the name bestowed upon you.... by yourself.

Pretty sure this is going to be the first instance where the farker who "hates" one of my players is me.

(Not that I hate Lincecum. It's just probably going to look that way.)

As much as I wanted him to be an All-Star just to piss off Papelbon, he had a pretty good chance to get in - the votes just weren't there.

DeWayne Mann: It was also the second best pitching performance of the day.

I haven't bothered to look through all the performances today, but I'm assuming you're referring to Greinke?  Definitely an outstanding pitching display.  Two hit shutout with the two hits being a well placed bunt and a bloop single (although that was a nice job of hitting by Helton).

I'm a lifelong Dodger fan, and hate the Giants like any good Dodger fan should.  But I have a hard time hating on some of the individual Giants players, Lincecum being one of them.  His no-hitter tonight was fun to watch and, as much as I want the Giants to implode, I couldn't help but feel a tinge of happiness for a guy whose best days seemed to be (and probably still are) behind him.  I can take solace in the fact that the 148 pitch performance is liable to come back to haunt them down the road.

Pence's bases clearing double today infuriated me, though.  He looked lost in the at bat, swinging at everything in the zip code.  Then he gets a two strike lollipop that your average high school player could scorch.  What a horrible pitching display.  Not that it ultimately mattered...

Maybe you should drive: Pence's bases clearing double

triple

That's the Giants way of saying "We're not going anywhere this year, and you're not coming back anyway, so sure, why not."

Wow, a news flash tag for a sports headline and not one comment from someone who doesn't like sports biatching about it.

Clever, but probably too subtle.  I still like it, though.

As a Tiger fan, I thought it was illegal to throw more than 100. Throw your 100, then it's time to sit down with a juice box and let the bullpen blow the lead.

I know the Padres have been no-hit quite a few times; I don't think the Padres have ever thrown a no-no.  Poor whale's vagina.

He hasn't been able to pitch for two years and throws a no no. Baseball is a weird sport.

By that I mean at his Cy level performance, he's been an average starter.

His last 5 or 6 starts have been very good, but he's gotten no run support and little or no defensive support. While I wasn't expecting a no-hitter, obviously (I would've bet that Bumgarner would be the next Giants pitcher to throw a no-no, and he's already flirted with it a couple of times this season), I did expect Lincecum to throw a solid game last night. But yeah, before a few weeks ago, he had completely sucked for the last two seasons (other than in the postseason, coming out of the bullpen, when he was virtually unhittable).

One reason for Bochy not worrying too much about the pitch count is because, with the ASG, Timmy will have a week  to get incredibly stoned rest his arm.

Nice job submitter... but this: nobody on San Diego... will cost you a major award. It just sounds awkward.

Also... no-hitting the Padres should have an asterisk or something. It's not that hard. This one makes 4 times since 2000.

Tidbit: Padres are the only team to have never thrown a no-hitter. (They also have never hit for the cycle)

/Padre fan.
//I was at the game in 1997 when big, fat Tony Gwynn let a single drop in front of him in the 9th to blow a no-no for Ashby.

HOFers with perfect games;

Cy Young

Jim Bunning

Sandy Koufax

Catfish Hunter

and thats it - except Randy Johnson should get into the HOF, and Halladay maybe also.

Otherwise, its Don Larsen, Len Barker and Dallas Braden types.

Tim Lincecum may be the only pitcher in MLB who could withstand that kind of pitch count, simply because of the way he throws and his attitude toward staying loose.

He isn't the "old" Tim, but he has been improving said mechanics. We'll see if it continues, because he may still be a HOFer if he just becomes "good" for a number of years, not even the great pitcher he once was.

Yes, Felix Hernandez is certainly a Dallas Braden type...
