It is 12:30 at night, I am sitting on my back porch with the smoker going.  Took the family (wife, son, daughter-in-law, nephew) to a movie earlier this evening.  Best friend is coming over tomorrow to hang by the pool and eat brisket.  If I died today, I would have no regrets (was given the sense to recognize  my blessings.

You didn't say what movie you went to.  Unless you went to see "This is the End", you have to have some regrets.

Kind of a sappy list, I would be willing to bet it's more along the lines of:

I wish I had gone to the Dr. and found out I had cancer sooner.
I wish I hadn't drank so much and gave myself cirrhosis of the liver.
I wish I had quit smoking 20 years ago and avoided this throat cancer.
I wish I wouldn't have ate all that crap food that gave me heart disease.
and above all else I wish I had farked more hot chicks/dudes instead of marrying my fat wife/husband.

Normally, those people would never wake up from their fantasy worlds. They live meaningless lives. They waste their precious days over nothing. No matter how old they get, they'll continue to say, "My real life hasn't started yet. The real me is still asleep, so that's why my life is such garbage." They continue to tell themselves that. They continue. And they age. Then die. And on their deathbeds, they will finally realize: the life they lived was the real thing. People don't live provisional lives, nor do they die provisional deaths. That's a simple fact! The problem... is whether they realize that simple fact."

I would regret all of the time spent learning how to kill zombies instead of putting that time to good use like learning how to be an indestructible zombie.

It's not about that, you dolt. It's about knowing you're going through the finality of dying and wishing at that moment you could have lived it better. You must be young, right? Because this is something young people can't comprehend until they are a little older and have got to live life enough to actually have regrets.

I'm with Basily Gourt, and I'm not young. You only need to wait a little longer, then you'll be dead, and any regrets will cease to bother you. The worms wont care what sort of life you lived, and at that point, neither will you.

With regards to #2: I wish I hadn't worked so hard.

It's precisely because I know that I'm going to die that I do work so hard with my physics.  This life is my only shot at discovering something.
