Daedalus27: We will have to see what tomorrow brings.  I think the fact that the verdict was read late on a Saturday night helped prevent some misconduct that would otherwise occur as people were already out and about or in bed.  We obviously will have a difference of opinion on the verdict.  Did we resolve the more difficult and divisive issue concerning pancakes, waffles, french toast, or other as the favorite breakfast treat?

It's a known fact that rioters are of the early to bed, early to rise variety. Though Sunday Mass might slow the momentum down for some of them.

sillydragon: torquestripe: RIOTS! Where have the riots gone?
AND BLOODLETTING! Someone has to pay with blood!
Whar is the rioting and bloodletting, whar!

Well, there appear to be blah people rioting and torching things in the little pocket universe inside Amos Quitos' skull. Out here in reality, it seems pretty quiet. There was a guy streaming from Chicago, but I think the batteries on his phone gave out or something. Most aggressive thing I saw was a guy wearing a "Fark the police"-type t-shirt. Hell, they were even waiting to cross with the light at intersections.

Hey, sillydragon - I really hope that this all fizzles -  that the Sharptons, the Jacksons, the Spike Lees and the OBAMA's are TOTALLY disappointed that their little attempt at division through race-baiting failed like Zimmerman's prosecutors.

Zimmerman wasn't initially prosecuted because there was no evidence that he COULD be successfully prosecuted. The ONLY reason this went forward was because the racial firebrands and their obedient media pushed it because it served their agenda.

If there is no civil unrest, the race-baiters have failed, and that's all right by me.

Cheers.

No, Texas is still king when it comes to insane gun laws. I think Texas was the state that let a guy off a few years ago after he shot and killed a man breaking into a storage shed in his back yard. His life wasn't in danger. Dude wasn't in his house. Just an @sshole thief, but in Texas theft is apparently a capital offense and you get to be the judge, jury, and executioner if someone's stealing junk out of your back yard.

There's a place around Nashville that has all you can eat pancakes. "That's not uncommon' you may say, but here you cook your own, and they have a variety of toppings to choose from. My cousin's and her family ate here, and two weeks later her husband had a heart attack (totally true for real). Not sure if there is a correlation or not.

shower_in_my_socks: BarkingUnicorn: She had no legal right to enter  that house or even be within 100 yards of it.

I agree that she was stupid to go to the house. But that doesn't justify him assaulting her.

BarkingUnicorn: He never laid a hand on her, according to her own statements.  She claimed to be afraid that he would.

From CNN:  Alexander says that on August 1, 2010, her husband went into a rage and tried to strangle her after reading some text messages she sent to her ex-husband.

BarkingUnicorn: She couldn't get out of the garage because she left her keys and door opener in the kitchen.  She went back to get them, taking a gun from the glove compartment of her car.

This is the argument that I have been making. Going into a locked room (in this case, the garage) that she could not get out of is not "leaving the situation." Leaving the situation would be if she could have made it outside. After realizing she would have to go back into the house retrieve her keys and garage door opener, she armed herself because her enranged husband was still inside. Normally that would be a smart farking idea, but apparently that doesn't apply to some people.

BarkingUnicorn: The shell casing was found on the kitchen floor, not in the garage.

I know the shot was fired in the kitchen. I believe the hole was in the ceiling/wall in the kitchen.

You've changed your own story three ways in this reply.  Be gone; you're dismissed.

Dear Florida,

Your gun laws are officially to the point where even Texas is wondering what the hell you are doing. A woman fires a warning shot in self defence gets 20 years, while a prejudiced gunman hunts down an unarmed teenager is let off scott free.

As much money as you get from the NRA, I'm certain it pails in comparison to the money you get from tourism. Thanks to your ass-backwards attitude and your unwillingness to deal with it, people will no longer visit your state and your economy will suffer for it.

Signed,

Civilized society

I wear my pants on my head.

FTFY. Self-defence isn't a "gun law." You obviously know fark all about either case you mentioned. Also, potato.

Occupy protests were WAY worse than what's going on in Oakland right now, and they weren't THAT bad. The few that are on scene are trying to provoke police, but as long as the police don't respond, nothing's going to happen--especially as long as cops outnumber protesters.
