This makes sense.  Wal-Mart and Hostess share the same corporate philosophy:

Fark the worker and kick the profits up to the top.

I guess this illustrates the "Fark the world" mentality of Wal-Mart, but I'm having a hard time summoning my burning aura of outrage.

If a smaller company had done this, Hostess would be shiatting bricks with cream filling and a little squiggle on top.

However, my outrage is also lacking.

Walmart wasn't allowed to start its own bank, so this is how they get customers to buy in on "long-term investment strategy"

I just bought a box today at the grocery store so I'm getting a kick out of this thread.

It's Walmart. They aren't real Twinkies, just cheaply-made imitations by the same manufacturer and using the same name and packaging.

To be fair to Wal-Mart their logistics really isn't designed to store a lot of crap in the back of the store and wait for it to go on sale. For DVDs and game systems they can devote some space to inventory, but for baked goods it is hard to ask them to enforce a street date.

Anyway, the important thing is that the evil, nasty, greedy unions can never take our Twinkies away again.

And we're done. After the last debacle, I swore that I would never eat a Hostess product again.

...and if this were the video game, music, or video industry, they would then be sued into submission.

Tell me about it.  We received 11,280 beanies about 4 months ago and called the guy.  He said they'll pick them up in November.

Hey, why should all those bakers get a decent living wage?  They should have got an MBA.

Think of the poor company owners.
If you owned a company, wouldn't you want it to make you some money?

I sure wouldn't rob the pension fund, as the Hostess folks did.

What if Zombie Zimmerman eats the brains of one of Martin's family?  Do we need Tallahasee to riot for us?

"Philistine"

It's ok, you're eating scab Twinkies if you eat these new ones.
/healthier if you don't eat them anyway.

I am very interested in developing Hostess like products for a more upscale nostalgic audience.

Like with an actual shelf life and real cream and stuff?  Could work.

I haven't had a twinkie since I was a teenager and I have no plans to change that.

Bah...my 60-something elder brother emailed me a couple hours ago to say he made a trip to Wally World to buy a package of Twinkies. LOL...I was like, WTF!?

I'd buy into that. It'd better be banana cream. And you could make a variant with pistachio cream cheese icing/filling, but that would have to be refrigerated.

They were selling them at Kroger today as well.

Haven't had a Twinkie or anything remotely like it for over 25 years.  I save my calories for meat and alcohol.

TastyKake brand Dreamies. They make Twinkies completely irrelevant.

They have actual flavor instead of just tasting like corn syrup and shortening, the cake is moist and the texture beats the crap out of anything Hostess makes.

WalMart hate right out of the starting gate. The AFL-CIO got their money's worth from you. Good job.

Some just don't want others to have a knockoff of the shiat that cost them a lot of money.

Some weird anti-communist vibe.
