Seeing this unfold is like watching a slow train coming by and you just know it's going to leave somebody's blood on the tracks.  This is a brand new morning but we're still having the same old arguments from yesterday.  GZ isn't some modern day version of an old west outlaw ala John Wesley Hardin and he sure as Hell isn't Pat Garrett and TM ain't no Billy the Kid. Perhaps the only thing that can be saved from all of this is a desire for bringing it all back home and reminding ourselves that the times they are a'changin'...

In my state the crime of threatening to commit a crime does not apply to conditional threats. I have not had reason to explore the legal boundary between conditional and unconditional.

Repeat that every time you wonder why a teenage boy does something stupid or unexpected and keep repeating it to yourself until you remember what it was like to be 15, 16 or *17*. How are they unsealed?  Given all the inflamed emotions over this case, I hope who ever decides puts the jurors' wishes first.  I don't think anyone has the right to know who these people are in such cases.

The fury over the Anthony trial surprised me a bit.  I think it was a shame an innocent child died, and I also think it's likely Anthony had some responsibility for what happened, but I just can't grok all that hatred that happened after the verdict.  Wasn't the jury's fault; if the state is stupid enough to argue for capital murder when they can't even establish a cause of death, they are going to lose if the jury is paying attention to the law.

Which part of "public trial" are you vague on? There is no vested interest in any way in concealing the identity of jurors - it's the only way we can ensure that people are, in fact, being tried by a jury of their peers.

This is an old link but it basically says the jurors names and addresses are a matter of public record.  The last 2 paragraphs state:

In Kever v. Gilliam,[6] the First District Court of Appeal was unable to find any basis for denying the release of names and addresses of the jurors who served in a trial. While the opinion does not specifically address the provisions in sections 119.07(6) and 322.20(9), Florida Statutes, the conclusion reached in the opinion is consistent with a finding that restrictions on the dissemination of personal information contained in those sections do not affect the disclosure of jurors names.

Accordingly, consistent with the decision in Kever v. Gilliam, it is my opinion that section 322.20(9), Florida Statutes, does not operate to exempt from public disclosure jurors' names and addresses appearing on a jury list compiled by the clerk of court.

Sincerely,

Charlie Crist
Attorney General

At this point, I actually find myself - in some morbid fashion - wanting something to happen. Maybe the 100 remaining Black Panthers riot and break a hip when stepping off the curb with their walkers.

As the mother of a teenage boy I cannot agree more. But mum or dad need to lay down some rules. 1) don't stick your dick in crazy
2) never put anything on social media you wouldn't want your mother to see
3) the older you get the larger the punishment for your mistakes
4) never kiss and tell
5) if there is an incident with a girl, you will immediately be guilty until proven innocent, so watch yourself

Etc.

Your problem is that you're thinking ethically.  There is very reasonable fear that people who are not ethical will try to get revenge on the jurors for making the "wrong decision"
