no

Merlin Olsen
Esther Williams
Terry Crews
Vinnie Jones

and yes, regardless of his 'history', OJ Simpson should be on there.

and if you're going to mention Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, why not Roddy Piper?

and Gina Carano is just on the cusp.

They forgot Dean Cain (baseball and football). He was signed by the Buffalo Bills but blew out a knee in training camp.

They list Kareem but don't mention Game of Death?

They list Carl Weathers but no mention of Arrested Development??

FAIL

I guess I'm an athlete, I did sports in HS and coached for years.  Why aren't I on the list.  I also played Ultimate Frisbee in college, granted, I played it badly but I had a shirt and everything.

and now that you mentioned Game of Death, Way of the Dragon popped into my head and...

where's Chuck Norris on this list?

This is a terrible list. Total fail. I guess Bruce Lee doesn't merit consideration either? What about David Duchovny, who I believe played college level basketball? Why is Jason Statham below Andre the Giant? Does Andre the Giant even merit being called an athlete?

This is F-level Top 25 List material.

Craig Kilborn played college hoops at Montana State. Also, did I fail reading comprehension or did Alex Karras' blurb omit Blazing Saddles?

Yeah, and Burt Reynolds' doesn't mention Smoky and the Bandit. I don't consider wrastlers and skateboarders to be athletes.

16. Stacy Keibler Source: wikimedia
Keibler is the only female athlete on the list of successful athlete actors. She began acting in 1998 and was a professional wrestler from 1999-2006. Her most well-known appearances have been in  WWE Judgement Day, Summerslam and  WrestleMania XX. She has also had guest appearances on How I Met Your Mother,Mayne Street and  Samurai Girl.

Uhhh what? Judgement Day, Summerslam and Wrestlemania are all wrestling shows. That's the "athlete" part of her career. She was also a NFL cheerleader, by the way.

I also don't see how a giant man who was a good 7'4" and at least 400 something pounds dying of congestive heart failure is "ironic." He also wrestled all over the world. Not just France.

From The Rock's entry.  The Rock has also been seen in theFast & Furious movies,Gridiron GangandRoyal Rumble.

So does the article's author think Royal Rumble is a movie then?

Oh and to top it off:Some people loved Hulk Hogan in the wrestling ring but others hated him. His filmography has included theWrestlemania films,Rocky III andThe Ultimate Weapon among many other titles.

Yeah that was pretty annoying.  If wrestling counts as their "sport," then it doesn't count as their "acting career," and vice versa.  Otherwise anyone who ever played in a televised game counts as an "actor" too.   One would hardly call Michael Phelps an actor, even though I saw him on TV during the Olympics.

At least with Dwayne Johnson he did play professional football with the CFL's Calgary Stampeders.

As another guy that probably should've been on the list, I would submit Jean-Claude Van Damme.  He's a horrid actor and has been in some absolutely aweful movies.  But he was a kickboxer and bodybuilder in the 70's and very early 80's.

I am not surprised that most of the listed had to get another career in acting.

I am also not surprised that most of the listed also had crappy acting careers.

Finally, Karras was an American football player for the Detroit Lions before his acting career. His most famous acting role was as George Papadapolis on the TV series, Webster.   MONGO, you goddam idiot of listmaker!

I watched the oj slow chase across los angeles while sitting next to ed marinaro at a bar in new orleans. was not lost on me at the time that I was watching a heisman trophy winner/actor being chased by cops while chatting with a heisman trophy candidate/actor.

weird day that was.
cool story that probably wasn't, bro.

OK WTF  They have Alex Karras for a couple of stupid TV shows but ignore Blazing Saddles and Victor/Victoria?

Yeah, for the wrestlers they mentioned a lot of their PPVs, not actual movies or TV shows.  Also did I miss that they neglected the Scorpion King in his filmography?  That is the one I think of when it comes to Dwayne's start in movies.  shiat add Austin in there I guess, he did Expendables 1&2 and a host of straight to video movies.

OJ should have been in there as well as compared to some of that list despite his eventual history.

I forgot all about Marinaro, he was pretty cool in Hill Street Blues.   In the late 70's I used to go to a place called"Breakfast at Mamas"  on the West Bank and get the Eggs Marinaro at 3 in the morning.

Arnold Schwarzenegger. How about no.
Juicing yourself with steroids, oiling yourself up and going onto a stage to be judged on your poses is NOT a frigging sport.

So all the wrestlers are out as well.  Wouldn't they be considered actors that are juiced up, to actors that are juiced up?
