Well, someone is in trouble. The ADA won't like that one bit.  Besides, aren't they paid to clean the floors?

It's a museum in Georgia...I thinks she can do without seeing cavemen riding dinosaurs and pictures of Jesus...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they've got a whopper of an ADA complaint/lawsuit inbound from that one.

Seems familiar... Really all they needed to do was Armor-All the wheels, give it a good shine up, and everyone's happy.

Good news is there's gonna be a job opening at The Ships Of The Seas Museum in Savannah soon.

WTF can we do about repeated comments about repeat articles?

Perhaps this simple google search will shed some light on the motivations of the parents. They're really exploiting this little girl.

Of course these people aren't suing the museum for ada compliance. That would be crass.

There are much better takings from the publicity that's been generated by setting up a small museum for a fall.

Per TFA, brain is working fine, body is not. It does happen that was with some diseases, like ALS (Or Lou Gehrig's Disease). It'll eventually get to the brain, but use it while you can, kid. Plus the father is a doctor. Doctor of what, I don't know. Preacher, surgeon, chiropractor, plain ol PhD. could be anything.

Well I've only known you for a few moments and can tell you're one miserable SOB. I've arranged for you to appear before the death panels.

Trust us. It's for your own good.

Warlordtrooper: But I was told that businesses should be able to turn away anybody for any reason.

....not protected by law, such as discriminating against race, religion, DISABILITY, ect.

That said, all an ADA lawsuit will do is make them let people in wheelchairs roll in. The business is given an opportunity to correct their non-compliance before any kind of penalty is levied.

Except if it's because the customer is a member of some protected class; you know, like women, minorities, cripples, that sort of thing.  Turning them away because they're ugly or just smell bad is still OK though.

Let's go burn down the observatory museum so this will never happen again!

Again in the same week!  When will this museum learn its lesson?

2013-07-13 10:47:30 AM
It'd better not be Friday again. That was a bad day yesterday.

2013-07-13 11:04:31 AM
I'm okay with this.  If the museum wouldn't let a walking person in with dirty shoes that would muddy up the carpet, it is reasonable to disallow a non-walking person in with dirty wheels that would muddy up the carpet.  I don't know if they would stop someone with dirty shoes from entering; but if they would, it is only fair to stop this person as well.

2013-07-13 11:04:47 AM
Didn't we already express our outrage over this?

Well, here is the thing: By law, (ADA) you must make reasonable accommodations to allow the disabled to use the place. It would be reasonable to have a staff member clean the wheels of the chair if that was the reason to deny them entrance in my opinion.

To be fair, that red clay is a biatch to get out.
