I suppose his death is probably overrated too.

His was a life with no highs or lows.

I love that joke almost as much as I loved getting a 10% commission on an Acoustimass back in the day.

My buddy is a distant relative of his. I should probably tell him.

Death is the Great Equalizer

He'll be buried in a VERY expensive piano black casket on a pressed cardboard cone held together with 30-gauge wire.

I shall salute him by buying a clock radio for $500 this weekend.

I guess that's another way to cancel the noise.

I met Dr. Bose in 1971 at a U.S. Army base in Germany (Patch) at a really good Army Audio Club.  He was pitching his speakers and had a totally kick ass demo set up.  Military guys (including me) bought about two semi trailer loads of Bose 901's and base housing pretty much vibrated from that day forward.  I've still got those speakers and they work fine.  I've never been gentle on them and used to loan them out regularly to an Irish band that used them for PA.  I had to send the equalizer back to Bose for replacement of all the switches once.  They didn't charge me.  I have lots of fine sound equipment now but I remember those days fondly as my introduction to good stereo sound.

He's only going to be buried 2 feet underground, despite the casket being advertised as providing 100% Base.

My wife was at college with his son, so I'm getting a deep bass kick out of this thread.

Bose is for people with bad hearing.

I bought some bose 301's almost 30 years ago and they still work fine.  I'm by no means an audiophile but hard to beat the quality for the price paid at the time and for how long they have lasted.

The only funeral that could possibly upstage this one would be that for the CEO of Monster Cable.

Bose blows. My home theater's equipped with Polk Audio.

/Listen to what sounds good to your ear; fark everyone else.

Bose loaned our dorm sound cannons for our spring alumni BBQ every year. The sound could be heard at frats on the other side of the Charles river.

R.I.noise canceling Peace, prof Bose.

My headphones are Polk. Most people have no idea Polk makes ear buds. Good fit, silicone tips you can clean, and a decent service life even if you do sweaty things in them that tends to kill iPod Nanos.

I've never gotten the Bose hate. Granted my only experience with Bose is owning a used car that came w/ Bose sound. F'ing speakers were 10+ years old and still sounded a helluva lot better than shait fresh off the lot. Expensive yesnb ut unlike monster cables you could hear a difference.

Bose is fine.  You can get the same quality for cheaper, but Bose sounds just fine, usually.

This is pretty much the only thing I know about Bose. I concede I'm not an audiophile.

Bose is actually not terrible from a subjective point of view. The problem is that you can buy really good quality brands with a ton more features and sound quality that is just as good or bettter for the same price or cheaper.

Bose is very overpriced for what it is. They do not use premium components and charge a premium price.

That does not mean they are bad. They are a lot like Apple. It's easy to use and looks nice. And they have strong marketing.

Bose has some great sounding earphones, pity the plastic holding them to the frame is shoddy.... ( Mine disintegrated after about a year of light use)

Why don't you have a seat over there closer to the speakers.

Bose makes very good speakers for the price but they are popular so basement dwellers hate them. Skinny Knees Syndrome

Rest in Peace Amar Bose.

I hope they plant you with one of your clock radios to take with you on your journey.

It's pretty simple: they're crappy speakers sold at ridiculous prices, and the noobs who buy them insist they are "audiophile" quality because that's what the infomercial told them (and I feel bad for the noobs because they don't know any better -- it can be hard to find high-end speakers like B&W because they're only sold through speciality dealers, where as the whole Bose line can be found in any mall).

Same here.  Purchased in the early 1990's.  Don't have them set up at the moment, but would never get rid of them.  Full sound, good bass, great speakers.  Yes, the wave radio and those little cube things are shiat, but they can make good products.

It's like Starbucks. Both companies overcharge for their products and convince consumers that the price is justified. Their successful marketing efforts then leads to higher prices for everyone.
