Turning the laudanum loaded and slightly pedophilic experiences of a Victoria math tutor into a movie franchise.

What a loser.

Oh wait...

Dear Mr. Depp

There are other directors besides Tim Burton and Gore Verbinski. I realize you probably have a good time making films with your friends but we as a viewing public are beginning to tire of watching the result of your collaborations.

Will there be another dance sequence?

I have a client who pays me to do one thing right, and that isn't to suck his dick. It's to provide a consistent service that makes him money. It's not glamorous, but I get paid well to do so.

(I guess it's sort of like sucking dick without the actual dick)

Gilbert Grape ain't coming back.

Dear Snapper Carr,

When you stop coming to my films, I'll consider alternatives.  See, you have the real power here.  Oh wait, your single ticket doesn't matter and I'm a brazillianaire.

Thank you for your concern, now fluff off.

J. Depp.

So this is a Surprised Face Depp movie (Willie Wonka, Alice in Wonderland, etc.) rather than a Mysterious  Face Depp movie (Pirates, Sweeney Todd, etc.)?

Seriously, the guy has distilled his career down to two expressions.

You are right in that Depp is a brazillianaire. Hell he has his own island. But he doesn't command the $20M per movie paycheck he used to. America is used to his schtick. He's played the exact same character since he struck gold with Captain Sparrow in Pirates (zany with a luck stat of 30 on a scale of 1-10).

Johnny Depp is quickly becoming the King of Guys who banged Winona Ryder in her prime, starred in a ton of great movies, and has about a billion dollars in the bank while still being totally cool and by all accounts a good guy.  He can do what he wants.

I mean, how can you not like this guy:   http://www.nextmovie.com/blog/johnny-depp-jack-sparrow-costume/

If not, it won't take many more Lone Rangers for him to drop off the radar in Hollywood.

What?  No!  What?!

2?  WTF?!

2013-07-12 09:05:05 PM
I don't care what Johnny Depp does, but I don't understand why they're making a sequel to this movie because the first one was so damn boring.

/I know it's money.

Yeah, I don't think he gives a shiat what people want or think.  He's going make whatever movies he wants (popular or not), cash his check, and enjoy his life.

At this point, Depp doesn't really answer to anyone.  He's going to do whatever he wants.

The sequel is Sweenier Todd: Electric Razorloo

WTF??!?!!

Isn't the sequel to Alice in Wonderland called Through the Looking Glass?

2013-07-12 10:03:59 PM
Does that movie really need a sequel?  I know that here are other Alice books, but I don't Burton is the right person to make movies out of those books.  I would rather see the series done with a director who can better respect the source material.

Besides Jack Sparrow when was the last time Depp played an original character?

And before you jump on me about "Pirates" being inspired by a Disney ride, I mean "original" in the sense that the character didn't exist before the movie in some form.

Keith Richards existed before there was a Johnny Depp.

Well, he's filming Transcendance now. Looks new. And the Tourist in 2010.

Yes, we should somehow be upset he gets casted in movies that were once books? I guess I could be angry at Robin Williams too. Because it's somehow bad?

I don't know how one well thought out story or character is different if it was in hardcover or not, an make it easier. If that was true, then Batman:The Musical staring George Batnipples Clooney, should have been a lock since batman is so unoriginal.

I was severely disappointed that the original had nothing in common with the book except for the characters. That they're making a sequel makes me even more disappointier.

//AiW is my favorite book
//would love to see a live action based off the book

Listen, Mr. I Didn't Really Watch The Film, did you totally miss how the it was actually somewhat darkly comedic in nature and poked a bit of fun at the occultists?  Also, your "ooh look at this (insert subject) nonsense thats so (insert sarcastic description)!" criticism could be a Mad Libs template used to describe just about every other film out there.

Oh, and your face!

I'm just saying he does it a LOT.

JM Barrie
Willy Wonka
Sweeny Todd
John Dillinger
Mad Hatter
Barnabas Collins
Tonto

And that's just in the last 10 years. Can you think of an actor who's done more in that time span?

I miss the days when Depp used to do a big-budget picture followed by a small-budget/indie flick...but that was a long time ago.

The Rum Diary was pretty small. So small no one saw it. It was a sort of prequel to Fear and Loathing.

Lord Jubjub: WTF??!?!!

I was wondering about that. You could actually make a pretty good, trippy movie out of that one, but I'm pretty sure Tim Burton isn't the one to do it. Also, it doesn't have the Mad Hatter, so Depp would have to play someone else. Humpty Dumpty? Helena Bonham-Carter would be the Red Queen, of course -- I'm not sure Burton knows that other females exist.

Actually The Rum Diary isn't really like Fear and Loathing. Hunter S. Thompson wrote it in the 1960's but it wasn't even published til 1998. It was like the very first book he had written and was more focused on his fear of growing old.

2013-07-13 01:33:35 AM
If Tim Burton, his wife and Johnny Depp just had a dump onscreen these days, I'm sure they'd make $100 million on the name recognition alone. People are stupid, and getting stupider all the time, All that our instant access to information has done is made the average Joe a celebrity and celebrities a money-making machine beyond all reason.
