I used to play Splatterhouse 2 on the Sega Genesis back when I played video games in the early 90's. It was quite violent/graphic for the time.

Can they replace one of the MadWorld's with Schoolyard Slaughter?

Postal was a very twisted game.

Is Dig-Dug listed?

If not, Dig-Dug should be listed.

No love for Resident Evil 4?  That game was almost shocking even for me, a jaded 20 something engineering student who had played nearly ever game on the list.  What about God of War 2 more specifically the QTE where you slammed a guys (Perseus I believe) head in a giant door?

They listed Madworld twice.

Manhunt was the first time I ever played a video game and thought "this is a little too violent".

I dunno man, GoW3 had you punching Hercules' face through the floor.  And then there was the whole Helios thing....

/it also had Aphrodite
//you impaled her

Modern Warfare 2 shouldn't be on there. That level was there simply to generate controversy.

Glad to see Soldier of Fortune on there. That was an extremely gory game. I remember the first time I shot someone in the eye and it just blew a massive hole in their skull

And MK9 kicked ass.

No love for Carmageddon?  I recall that that raised more than a few eyebrows in the early '90s.  It's a direct lineage ancestor to the GTA games.

Against better judgement I bought Killing Floor on Steam when it was 75% off .   Each  minute I played I felt like I was transmorphing just a little more into a Juggalo.

Bioshock got me for some reason.  I can maim and murder all through Oblivion, and Skyrim, and Fallout 3, but Bioshock?  Nope.

I never did finish the "artist" level (Fort Frolic).  Something about the piano player starting to cry as you walked forward and then exploding, I just kinda went "I'm done".

Is that the reboot?

It's not underrated, it had horribly shiatty mechanics and controls. They had a good idea, but horrible execution. All the gore in the world couldn't save that game.

'10 most violent video games the writer of this article has played'

Sounds like this was written by someone under the age of 25 who only played limited games growing up (only hearing rumbles of MK's controversy).

GoW's violence is over the top, but climatically so.  Mortal Kombat's new game, the X-ray felt more gimmicky than ultra-violent...actually I felt the bruising and blood was a better representation of the violence.

Nothing says sexy like Jade victory-pole dancing with a face that just got pounded in for 2 minutes...

Came for this. Can't remember if it was 1 or 2, but one of them had a camera system where you could rewind, change the camera angle, etc....

It wasn't just about splattering people, it was about watching it over and over and over...

Postal.. wasted many a work night with the boys at our dead end third shift job playing that game ..

The best part was when you threw a molotov cocktail into the marching band and the couple of band members who caught alight would run around, screaming, into the others and set them on fire.. continuing until the entire band was ablaze. Good times!

Yeah, it's funny how different people perceive things. That kind of thing made me like Bioshock even more. Farked up as it was, it served the story.

I don't really think it's the X-ray moves that got it on there. Pretty sure it was the fatalities, which they did a pretty damn good (read: gross) job of. Especially Kung Lao ("Razor's Edge) and Noob Saibot ("Make a Wish").
