41.) You become a featured partner on Fark so no one can comment on your crappy lists?

BuzzFeed writers are paid with gift cards to Olive Garden and Target.

I wasn't aware you needed to have ideas to write for BuzzFeed.  Isn't that what Reddit is for?

Are there really people out there that make a living by crapping out these lists every day? I wonder how much they make.

They should find a way to make a more honest living. Like as a hitman or something.

Enough that they throw all their money on the bed and dive into piles of nickels and dimes. And they're still overpaid.

Buzzfeed
Never heard of it.
This list will work for lots of things though....

How to know if you would make a good presidential candidate.
How to know  if you've been teaching too long.
How to know if you're smoking too much pot.
How to predict the number of days before you're fired.

I wonder if BuzzFeed "writers" are like that in real life? Five movies I'd like to see this weekend! Eight restaurants I've never been to and should! Twelve appetizers on this menu I'm not going to order! Six ways you can tell our waiter isn't really isn't his job! Hey, where are you going? Twenty reasons you're bailing on our first date!

BuzzFeed is entertaining fluff, no more.

At least Cracked has lists that manage to be thought-provoking sometimes.

I agree.  I mean, I don't really get the Buzzfeed hate, some of the lists are dumb, some are fairly entertaining, every now and again they'll put something out that is downright humorous, but they're not offensively puerile for the most part.

And so is Cracked.

I'll just leave this right here, and suggest that one search for "hastings" on www.buzzfeed.com to see how they've reacted to the tragedy.

I clicked on the SkyMall one (because I'm a bad person), and saw lots of cool luxury home features, like slides and tubs and bars and stairs. Sure, I've seen some of the images elsewhere, but it's not like looking at that article was worse then hitting Pinterest or something.

Mog32Kupo: 41.) You become a featured partner on Fark so no one can comment on your crappy lists?

Farking this.

I refuse to click on on any of the featured partner links, even if they sound amusing or interesting solely because of the fact that there is no associated thread. I'll click on the sidebar ads before clicking a featured partner link. To me, the appeal of Fark is the community. I'm not even a super active member and I let my TF lapse long ago, but I still recognize certain members names and look forward to the debates, flame wars, derision and (occasionally) intelligent/enlightening conversations.

There is no value, to me as a Farker, to any link that cannot be commented on.

Exactly.  It's bland fluff, with zero value added.  Offensively puerile would be an improvement.

Buzzfeed is only one step above those sites that are nothing but pics and headlines that link to other sites that link to other sites and you never actually reach an article.  And no, not the porn ones.

Word.
Occasionally a featured link looks interesting, but why on earth would I go to Fark to read something I can't then comment on?

Yeah. Once in a while, you find something interesting on Buzzfeed. Then you leave Buzzfeed to check out the original source. Please note that this does not work for Buzzfeed lists "written" by someone who is clearly stoned.

And once in a very rare while, they'll come up with an amusing photo essay about famous  internet cats. (That may very well be Buzzfeed's only original content.)

Should have used "pretentiously" twice in that sentence.

My guess is they get paid zero dollars plus a pittance for how many clicks the page gets, but I'm only guessing.

Really, they be paid in punches to their junk though.

LOL at people think Buzzfeed produces content.
All it does is copy pre-existing internet lists like the 50,000 other websites with the identical setup.

I was a TF for over 10 yrs. But had enough of the paid link crap. Let my sub expire, and find less and less reason to visit now, which sucks in a way, but the people that run Fark have decided its more important to take Buzzfeeds money and clog up the daily links with 3/4 or more paid sh*t, so here we are.

Most of them use might-as-well-be-softcore images in their links, though. All of which are damned lies.

Because it's actually an unlabeled SPONSORED LINK. Make fun of them to get people to visit them, Buzzfeed will pay.
