We had a pretty severe thunderstorm last night that knocked out the power for a few minutes, RIGHT before Sharknado premiered. I got to watch it, but dvr thing was messed up and it didn't record the movie.
Global warming can eat a dick.

/Sharknado comes on Syfy again on 22 Aug. This time I'll set BOTH dvrs to record it.

2013-07-12 09:21:32 AM
But, but...I thought all Syfy movies were rooted in plausible science?

(The female newscaster, not the small businessman, is right, though this doesn't turn out to be much comfort to her, since she gets devoured by a shark during a live broadcast.)

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

What a shock. Syfy is owned by NBCUniversal.

Sigh.  The fact that this movie aired on the SyFy (which stands for SCIENCE FICTION!) should be all you need to know about whether or not this can happen.

Also, it seems that since they changed their name to SyFy that they have become less about science fiction and more about crap.

I was killed by a flying shark just the other day, so I'm really getting a kick, etc.

For those who watched this, how exactly does this work?  Are the sharks "swimming" in the air and eating people?  Or are they landing on the ground and then eating people?

Tara Reid's career has really sky-rocketed.

In order to prevent panic and rioting sometimes the government will purposely withhold information from the public.

Not like someone can file a FOIA request from the small bowel of a Great White.

I gave up after an hour but some of both, from what I saw. The ground park "worked" because the concurrent hurricane brought so much water onto land that it flooded the streets, so you had sharks swimming down the street munching pedestrians, and then getting washed down sewer and storm trains and popping up again miles from shore.

Nope.  I got this.

The sharks had been previously swarming in the region for some damned reason.  They were caught up in water spouts, in which they seemed to be able to breathe more or less indefinitely.  From time to time, they would get flung the hell out of the water spout and crash to the ground at high speed.  To paraphrase Monty Python, they don't fly so much as plummet.

Now, a shark (and there were multiple species) hitting you at tornado speeds is a hell of a thing, as they are really big and have teeth.  So you are going to want to have a) a shotgun b) a chainsaw or c) a sorta MILFY Tara Reid along with you.

Aaahhh...grand memories of the night of the 2012 election where I vowed to do that song and dance in front of Romney's estate and then ended up passing out right after they called it and Rove had his meltdown.

When I woke up at 3 AM, still very much drunk, it still seemed like a bad idea to go through with it.

I wonder how the editing of "Sharkakke" is going from the Sharknado thread yesterday.......

2013-07-12 11:18:08 AM
Why is this even a question?

Chance of Sharkando=(Percentage of the worlds oceans containing a feeding frenzy)*(percentage of the Earth covered by a tornado[1])*(percentage of the Earth covered with Oceans that have sharks (2/3))^2.

Hint: it's a really small chance.
[1] tornado must be sufficiently large to be both a waterspout and lift sharks. Since there is unlikely to be one at any one time, expect the area involved to be considerably less than the size of any one tornado.

It's sad and true. I remember the days you could watch all the Star Treks on SciFi. Farscape, BSG, Dr. Who, etc, etc, etc... Who cared if they were reruns? I could sit and watch that stuff all day, every day. BRING IT BACK, I say.

.... Why is it whenever they come up with a good thing, they have to go and ruin it because of sht like Honey Boo-Boo.

2013-07-12 11:23:22 AM
Quit ruining C movies for me.  I want to see sharks flying at people from tornadoes on tv screens, dang it.
