LarryDan43: Bowser.

You give him far too much credit. Is there a movie where a fat, cowardly turtle cries a lot when he doesn't get his way?

2013-07-12 09:52:22 AM
Gave in to the dark side?

On the other hand, it implies he could eventually see the error of his ways... I highly doubt that.

Mitch McConnell is a terrible prequel that didn't follow the original storyline in any way?

Vader hands down.

I actually never understood why Luke didn't join the Dark Side and they could have ruled the universe together, as father and son. That seemed like a pretty sweet deal.

It would have been like Saddam and Uday.

Oh my gods, McConnell is just plain evil.  I had no idea he was that ruthlessly malicious.  I just thought he was a crazy mildly evil Republican.

Most of that article was riveting.

Typical Republicans.  "Government spending never creates jobs," but cutting government spending in their district would DEVASTATE the economy.

But at least you can make an argument that your district/state is special.

What I just have a passionate hatred is for these guys who claim that government spending doesn't create jobs and then say cutting it would cost jobs in their district.  Make up your God damned minds.

The article was seriously long, but it came down to a litany of the many times he's shown what a cynical, self-serving douche he is.

Staying on theme, I'd say Cantor is a lot like Watto and Boehner is a little like Jar-Jar Binks, except Jar-Jar is a good guy.

bdub77: Question: Who would you rather have as your father, Darth Vader or Mitch McConnell?

Vader, easily. He started out good, was an asshole for 20 years, and then turned good again.

McConnell has been an asshole for at least 30 years, so he's 50% worse than Vader by simple mathematics.

Vadercare was a pretty terrible policy. He made an army of clones that couldn't hit anything.

Well the young-lings were super annoying and it was Tarkin that ordered the strike. Remember, Vader wasn't too impressed with that technological terror.

Thus, McConnell is easily the worst choice.

The clones were good marksmen.  It was when they had to subsidize that army with normal humans that their accuracy rates went to shiat.

Off-topic: the Jedi were seriously stupid in the prequels. How the hell can you have at least a 1000:1 ratio of Jedi to Sith and interpret "the chosen one will bring balance between the two sides" as proof the guy will eliminate the side already on it's last legs? "Perhaps we misread the prophecy." Yes, if you read it as anything other than a massive resurgence of the Sith or a Jedi genocide, you did. The better question is HOW you could have misread it.

Then again, this is the least of the prequels problems, I know.

I don't know about that.  How many children will have some form of medical coverage due to Obamacare that wouldn't have otherwise have had it?  Some percentage of those children would have died from lack of medical care.  The GOP will be responsible for those deaths if they succeed in stopping it.

They might be responsible for some simply by their policy of sabotage.  What would it have looked like if they had made a good faith effort to help craft it?

Somehow, that seemed to be the point. The Jedi let "over a thousand generations" of being "the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic" swell their heads up so much that they couldn't see what obvious dangers lay ahead.

As for Darth Vader vs. Mitch McConnell, Vader doesn't tolerate failure, whereas McConnell welcomes it.

The Dark Side was the imbalance, a corruption of the Force's natural state.  The Jedi believed that the Light side of the Force was its natural or ideal state.  Thus, having the Force in balance - in harmony with the universe - meant removing the presence of the Dark Side.  It has been suggested that this was at the center of the Jedi downfall, that they failed to understand the Dark Side was natural in its existence.
