(TSN)   Hamilton's new CFL stadium has its naming rights bought by Tim Hortons. This means in 10 years the CFL will have 1,500 teams coast to coast, some across the street from eachother   (tsn.ca) divider line 27

Living in Texas I've never seen a Tim Horton's, but I LOL'ed anyway.

Anyone else like the irony of a football stadium being named after a hockey player.

They really need to move to BMO Field.  Watching football in the Dome is aweful.

Subby took the high road (and succeeded).  I would have gone along the lines of Hamilton now being the most overrated team in the league or somesuch nonsense.

You've seen them play this year?  They aren't even good enough to be overrated.

It is a horrible venue. I was there for Grey Cup last year, The Argos need to play elsewhere.

Tim Hortons is quite a reasonable sponsor for the stadium. The first shop was nearby. There are Tims all over Hamilton. I will kinda miss Ivor Wynne, but the bathrooms were soo... very... far... away which is bad when drinking! I live about 6 blocks from there (and 1 block from a Timmy's of course).

/Oh ya, the Ticats will play in the Donut Hole. Aka the Hole. Or something

I loved Ivor Wynne (Never Wynne, hur hur) and I'm glad they're keeping the stadium in the same spot. My grandma's house backed onto Gage Park and I've got a lot of fond memories of slamming a slice from Pizza Pizza on the way to a Ticats game.

I wondered if Timmays had a shop in Iqaluit, and by jove! they do.

The obvious tag would have been entirely appropriate here. Tim's is a no brainier for corporate namin rights in Hamilton.

As it is currently configured the Argos can't play there. The BMO field is too short.

But even Timmy cannot stand up to the power of the almighty Dunky's.  If Fred the donut maker was still alive he could found the Hitler Lovin' Gun Totin' Baby Rapin' Tea Partyest Party Ever and still win a Senate seat.

David Braley mentioned during a radio interview that the Argos are looking into building a 27-29 thousand seat stadium that will be located either in north Toronto, Vaughan, Markham or Mississauga. He expects it to be done in under 5 years since they are worried that the Blue Jays will want to kick them out so they can change the Skydome into a baseball only facility with real grass.

I was at the game. Kory Sheets is a beast. Nice to see Rob Bagg do well, his family was sitting right in front of us. That show me guy needs a new joke (two teams called Roughriders). /=S=/
