Self-righteous drivel.

Every person has their own way of dealing with the horrors of living among other humans.  This picture:

farm2.static.flickr.com

It's funny.  The humor is predicated on you understanding his job description and the reason for it existing, and knowing the horrific effects an explosion sheathed in metal designed to shard has on a human body, especially in such close proximity.

We can spend our entire lives bemoaning the terrors we inflict upon each other, or we can grimly laugh at the barest whisper of comedy in an otherwise dreary existence and take some solace in the fact that the situation has been resolved in a somewhat satisfactory manner, unlike the countless similar cases that occurred in the past and may occur in the future.

We don't laugh because we gain joy from the girl's suffering.  We laugh because sometimes it's the only thing keeping us sane.

Stuff your indignation, sir.

Once the leap seconds start adding up to an hour or so, then add an hour or so.  To keep adding and sometimes subtracting a few miliseconds to each day following a random unpredictable pattern makes no sense.
