Damn and here I just traded my Hernandez jersey for a Dennard one

Dennard also is accused of refusing a chemical test

I wonder if the NFL is going to want one of those chemical tests?

He's was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Yeah, he was probably drunk or high but he's more guilty of being an idiot considering the conditions of his parole/probation/whatever and his bombastically stupid timing.
Besides his not being a murderer, the Pats are in a much better spot as his salary is $480,000 and cutting him would cost less than $50,000 against the cap.  Consider the Pats lucky that they weren't "duped" by him staying out of trouble through his rookie contract only to go to jail after a big payday.

He's a good player who was projected in the 2nd-4th round and they snagged him in the 7th.  If you look through the rest of the draft from 4 through 7 you'll find 75 players that will be cut soon enough.  It's worth the risk as long as you don't mind risking the bad PR.

What I don't get is that Belichick hates bad PR - or more specifically, publicity that has the media asking nonfootball questions and distracting his time and his players' time.  For God's sake, 2 years ago Wes Welker was held out of the beginning of a playoff game for referencing feet.  Now it's murder and assault on a police officer.

Meh, I suppose you could claim "well, at least I didn't probably murder a dozen people over a period of several years" if you do it right after a teammate is arrested for such crimes. Makes the DUI look pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Good. I hope the rest of the Patriots roster is just as disgraced.

We should be expecting the NFL PR machine to crank up pretty soon.  Tebow must be gearing up to go on a baby kissing tour or something.

My first thought when I heard about this was whether or not the cops were farking with him because he got a relatively light sentence for assaulting a police officer.  Not that I think Denard is clean on this, but I just don't trust rural cops.  Whether or not he's drunk, he certainly shouldn't be out driving at 2 am under any circumstanes because he's a high-profile target in that town.

You could up and retire at age 30 to go back to Russia for hundreds of millions of dollars, leaving your team after the draft and after all the good UFAs are gone and still holding a 250k cap penalty for the next 11 years plus the loss of a 1st rd draft pick this year and a 3rd next year.

So it could be worse.

The Patriots are having the greatest offseason ever.

So what's the field getting against the Pats for winning the division?  My money's still on Hoodie and the Pretty One.

you have to wonder just HOW many more arrests and embarassments and lost dollars for teams is it going to take before they finally give up and institute a bonding program to play in the NFL (ie you cant have a record and being arrested is grounds for release without pay).

Seriously its not like the caliber of talent would drop off, there are PLENTY of stars and great players who don't pull this crap constantly. only the idiots would be replaced with the college kids who keep it clean and want to learn.

The NFL would be a much better example for people to idolize as well likely raising the value of all of the franchises .. even the bungles!

And frankly its the one reason why I don't cheer for players and buy jerseys. I just assume everyone is a criminal and not worth my money. So the NFL would gain a customer in me if they did this.

Any NFL player who gets caught drunk driving is a total moron. Take a taxi, or hire a driver/bodyguard. You can afford it.

I am not the world's biggest Patriots fan (OK, not a fan at all, in fact completely against them), but listing Brandon Meriweather as having had an "incident" because he legally used a hand gun to defend himself and a roommate/teammate from an assailant is uncalled for and completely wrong.

They can't play defense too. Hell, they can't catch the ball either.

Now that Dennard is out, the Pats can sign a CB with more character like Pacman.
