Now if they could only get him into the 50th celebration

Awesome.

Wasn't he also recently  IN Doctor Who? He was the villain in "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship", I think.

Maybe someone took a good look at him while filming and thought "Hmmm, that could work..."

The author of the article is legally blind, right?

This guy really looks nothing like William Hartnell, at least not in the pic they used. Richard Hurndall in the Five Doctors looked more like Hartnell.

That's not a judgment on the movie, BTW, which will be interesting to see. But the author of this article is clearly blind.

I think they're pretty close myself, and I'm definitely not legally blind, because I couldn't afford one of those braille keyboards, and I can't touch type very well.

I'll never forgive the first Doctor for The Red Wedding in Game of Thrones.

Will they attempt to recreate the groundbreaking special effects?

I agree, its as if they said, "Old White Guy? You got the part!"

Step 1.  Dress up random old actor in Doctor 1 clothes.
Step 2.  Take a photo from FAR AWAY
Step 3.  Call it "Exactly right".

It was a fixed point in time. Without that, Tyrion wouldn't get to ascend and become the actual God of Tits and Wine in season 9 followed by 4 episodes of lesbian orgies and some 8-way involving Bronn.

Harry Potter and The Game of Thrones.

"You're a Stark, Harry!"

While he may not quite have Hartnell's craggy face, he has the body language (to judge from this one
lone photo, anyway).  If he can get his gruff voice down, though, that will make up for a multitude of sins.

I saw Hartnell in the original series. This guy looks nothing like him.
I was rather hoping that the Beeb had come up with a CGI technique to use images of Hartnell. Sadly not.

What are some of you lot smoking? He's a dead ringer! If he could nail the voice, that would be spectacular.

Yes, as Solomon;  who I was actually sad to see get killed off, because he seemed like a pretty interesting character to bring back as a recurring villain.

Maybe someone took a good look at him while filming and thought "Hmmm, that could work..."

Close enough that it would be Hi-larious to start a rumor that he's the choice for the 12th doctor.

The likeness is impressive, but does he HAVE to be tapdancing with a vacuum cleaner the whole episode?

You mean the wedding where he killed Hermione Granger's mother?

24.media.tumblr.com

He probably killed her because of all the crap Granger and that Potter kid put him through when he was trying to work as a caretaker at their school. Be enough to drive anyone psychopathic, and we already know the Doctor is 6/8th psychopath and not afraid of an occasional genocide.

He looked pretty craggy at the Red Wedding.  The makeup department is good at that sort of thing.

True, but as a rule if you need a lot of latex facial appliances to play a historical figure (see, for example, Jack
Nicholson as Jimmy Hoffa), then you are probably miscast.

I'll reserve my final judgement until I see the show, but Sir Patrick Stewart would have been a better choice, IMO.
