this is what happens when we let kids grow up without learning the language. They make up their own words

/I fear it will only get worse, before it gets even more worse.
//it will never get better
///queue the 'Languages evolve so shut up' crowed.

His name is Luca

He's lives up in outer space

What's the more amazing thing here? A test pilot in a rubber suit going to the same altitude as half a century ago, or a digital camera?

Here's something to bake your noodle - every word ever uttered was made up at some point in time.

What's more amazing here, that you still bother to come into space threads and sputter out your usual drivel or that people still seriously respond to you?

If it makes just one person think and question their beliefs, it's worth it.

Where is the drivel, exactly? Drivel is thinking we'll colonize the universe.

Asking what's more impressive between doing the same thing over and over or the camera is not drivel.

Answer the question. I don't think you will because the answer is probably physically painful to you.

If you honestly want to keep typing "a photograph taken of oneself" (edited for grammar, of course) every time, you go ahead. The rest of us on our personal computing devices will continue accessing nodes within this digital collection (sometimes adding to the discussion threads therein with our own humorous takes or insights, perhaps by using commonly-understood images and themes) realizing that so long as meaning imparted roughly equates to meaning intended, the endeavor was a success.

// we've made up so many stupid goddamned words in the last 5 years that "selfie" is far down the list

I always figured people take so many selfies because the have no friends to assist.

At least astronauts have an excuse.

If I was an astronaut I wouldn't accomplish a single mission objective. I'd be too busy making sure that everyone on the entire planet knew I was a an astronaut and I was in SPAAAAAAACE!

Nah, ignore is for pussies. Besides, sometimes it's fun to poke residents in the asylum.

Well I'm sure he at least has a cure for that physical pain for you.

Because we'll never colonize even our closest astronomical neighbors, but we will somehow create a cure for all possible diseases and live forever, even though that is something that anyone that has actually studied medicine will tell you is literally impossible.

Geez... now you're going to make me come in here and defend the bastard.  It is not impossible, and anyone who says so is either simple minded or uneducated on the subject.  Would it likely entail synthesizing new customized cells and/or using nano scale biotech to manipulate the ones currently in your body?  Absolutely... but just because the tech currently available cant do it, doesnt mean its impossible.  Its actually extremely probable that we will develop the ability to cease aging, so long as you have the resources.

Of course, this lack of an ability to see and understand possibilities is also QA's largest mental retardation, but whatever.

What's more useful, a test pilot in a rubber suit or a digital camera?

Let me guess though, we only have digital cameras because test pilots in rubber suits floated in a tin can.

Ahh QA utterly convinced that we'll have a magical breakthrough in medical science and at the same time utterly convinced that no such breakthrough can occur in engineering more cost effective means of exiting our gravity well.

Why can't we have both your magic life extending research and our magic space colonizing research? the 2 are not mutually exclusive. It's not like suddenly all the engineers and astrophysicists will all of a sudden go back to school to get medical degrees.

I'd throw peanuts at QA, but he'd inevitably go on about them briefly being in orbit, and that is exactly the same as being an astronaut.

When Ifirst heard the term "selfie" I just figured it was a new term for jerking your gerkin, floggin the dolphin, punchin the muchkin........

What, just because you're an astronaut, you think you're so special? Like you're better than everyone else?

taking a selfie sounds like slang for masturbation.

Anytime I see that term I will just assume its referencing masturbation.

Test pilot in a rubber suit obviously. The camera isn't doing shiat to further our knowledge of anything. We at least gain useful knowledge from test pilots trying out new shiat. Care to try again?

/what sign that says "Don't provoke the idiots!"?
