Hmm, a Republican governor claiming residency despite spending the vast majority of their time doing anything but residing in the state.  Wonder where I've heard that one before....

The most important question is can she see Russia from wherever she actually  is resident?

What if she's residing  in Russia?

Paris1127: What if she's residing  in Russia?

Judging from her ability to perceive the United States while in the US, I'd guess that would decrease the chances dramatically.

2013-07-10 07:24:07 PM
She's so anti-establishment that she wants to run just so she can quit if she wins.

/no one in their right mind would want her to run

2013-07-10 07:27:09 PM
Didn't John Oliver request me be considering ignoring her?

Broad can't make it through a paragraph without mangling it, can she?

Palin must be getting desperate for attention. Her star has fallen; nobody outside of her cabal of flyover state hockey moms gives a sh*t about her. Her party has renounced her. Her opposition openly mocks her.  Even Fox News got rid of her. She's a pathetic waste of life, and her only shot at preserving her pissed away 15 minutes is another political run, which will NEVER succeed as she shot herself in the foot by stepping down mid-term of her governor run.

John Oliver is on the right track, but we can only ignore her while she isn't in office, since that's where her derpitude is dangerous. And, by extension, we can't ignore her while she is running for office. So, the announcement is only significant in the sense that it's a warning:

Threat Level Orange: You might have to start paying attention to Sara Palin in the near future.

I can picture her running but with no intention of winning.  She'll hire all her family as six figure consultants and spend the rest of the money buying her books.

My bet she milks/tries to milk her followers again by doing the whole coy should I run thing. It wont work as good as the last time but it should get her a bit of money this time as well.

He's talking about the NY debacle.  You know, when after spending her time in the Arkansas governor's mansion being heckled as a carpetbagger by dimwitted southern hicks, she moved to NY and ran for Senate while getting heckled as a fake northerner by dimwitted southern carpetbaggers.

Holy cow! 26 posts and not one from a Fark Independent claiming we are scared of her. I'm kind of disappointed.

Alaska residency status is more closely monitored than in most other states, because of the yearly Permanent Fund Dividend check, lots of great deals on hunting and fishing licenses for locals, and because the population is sufficiently small to not be overwhelming to monitoring.

Here's the rules for absences:

http://www.pfd.alaska.gov/Eligibility/AbsenceGuidelines

Basically, if you have more than 90 days of absences from the state, you must report them all; if you have more than 180 days of absences, you may lose residency unless you have a listed exception.

Wherever it is she stays these days, she doesn't spend much time in Wasilla.  Where do FOX News pundits live, anyway?  Shuttling between Texas and DC hotels?

I was under the impression that carpetbaggers were essentially out of staters coming in to run the business of other states they had no business in, so she'd probably be considered a carpetbagger in both cases.

She better not waste time with Alaska. She's got to hurry and get set up for her Freedom! Party Presidential run in 2016, cos she's starting to look a bit old. She's going to lose the "I only voted for her cos I fantasize about having sex with her" vote if she starts looking any older.

Then she's just going to be like any other grey-haired old lady where the minute she starts talking you realize she's getting a bit confused in her old age and then when she keeps talking you begin to wonder if she just did a runner from the nearby old farts' home. Right now she still gets the benefit of the doubt from some people.

Yeah, by dimwitted hicks.  The same dimwitted hicks who voted for a billionaire son of a former president from Connecticut because they believed he was the embodiment of their way of life.

I'm guessing she is a full-time student at Phoenix University in Texas majoring in public speaking which makes her eligible. Besides, that appears to be for the Permanent Fund Dividend (socialism). It does not say anything about residency.

Bu-bu Clinton? Really?

Yes really. Clinton moved to NY just to run for senate. This is someone who lived in AK, held statewide office there previously. Its a fair point to make.

Also from the article. Senator Begich told Politico, "Most Alaskans I see on a pretty regular basis, but I haven't seen her for a long time."

So, he sees most of over 700,000 residents on a regular basis eh?
But no one noticed that completely idiotic statement. I wonder why.

I'm pretty sure she can make a lot more money by talking about running than she ever could by actually running.

Performing clowns get to keep all the money that gullible rubes throw at them, but Senate candidates have to follow all sorts of pesky campaign finance rules from the FEC.

==================================================

Alaska is about the reddest state there is, yet at the same time, it's not extreme like, for instance, Alabama. We've seen that they won't tolerate a far-right tea party whacko. They like moderates like Murkowski.

So if Alaska republicans are dumb enough to, again, nominate a far-right lunatic, Begich will have a good chance to hold onto his seat. But, really, it should be an EASY pickup for republicans. As a democrat, I hope they blow it again.
