(Walyou)   Let's face the chiptune music, here. We all think that we're great gamers. But rare is it that we're actually honoured for our l33t skills   (walyou.com) divider line 20

I like video games, and have the whole nerd thing going on, but if playing video games is the most important feature about you, you might be really boring.

What if you also have a video game blog? Does that bump up the interesting level at all?

Noooo, subby. I long ago realized that, while I DO love playing video games, especially of the rpg and FPS genres, I have very LOW skills. And you know what? I don't care. Couldn't give a rat's ass whether I have l33t skills or not, cause I'm playing to have fun.....not conquer the video/computer gaming world.

"I don't play video games of any kind.

because, frankly, I'm better than you people.

I also don't own a TeeVee and I use a non-ironic rotary phone

Pretty much King Sh*T of F*ck Island over here."

speak for yourself subby, but I am the proud winner of a Mortal Kombat regional playoff trophy!

/yeah I'm old
//you can pry the trophy out of my old, arthritic, grease and Cheetos stained fingers when I'm dead

Hadn't seen this before, so it's a pretty cool thing to do for a teenaged kid regardless of the naysayers. :)

I got a few small kudos back in the day and this is pretty much the only time I'll ever get to say "I did this stuff" so here goes. When Blockbuster was holding their video game competitions I won at my store and got free rentals for a year. For a short time I was the world record holder on an old PC/PSX pinball game called The Web. When XBand was a thing for the SNES, my buddy and I qualified for their national knockout tourney for Mortal Kombat 2 (32 people out of however many tried). Last but not least, I won a couple of DDR competitions, one of which sent me to Las Vegas for a weekend of partying and attending a wrap show for a now long-forgotten TV program.

Do what you like. Be good at what you like. I had a great time and I'll always have the memories of competing with friends, and this kid has a totally badass memory now and a cool box and sword to show off with it too. Teenaged-me is super envious.

Bump? I'd think it would lower it.

Well said.

/once won fifty bucks and even played a charity gig back when Rock Band was still a thing
//would have kept playing the game anyway

I still have the Sword quest Sword. Read it and despair.

I have the Gamespy award for Best PS2 Extreme Sports Game of 2002 up on my mantle.

I bought it for $10 at the Midwest Gaming Classic because the award went to Aggressive Inline from Acclaim and it was one of the things that got sold off to pay off their debt when they went belly-up. A Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reporter assigned to cover the event wound up interviewing me over it because she thought I'd won a tournament or something.

It's called Twin Galaxies, and none of you are good enough to be on it.

If you want rewards for playing video games, the first thing you'll need is a time machine to return to an era when arcades were still a thing.

Dave & Busters still uses those, although they dump the credits on a gamecard.

Actually I'm in their book (first edition, didn't check second) for The Web. I was beaten not long after publication but for a little while I was king of that tiny little corner of the world, embarrassing name and all.

well, just found out that they aren't going to be open until later this month due to the Columbus, OH building permit issues. Namely their inability to issue them in a timely manner.

Holy cow. Okay... You must've been DAMN good. I don't think I'll ever get that far, but I understand just how difficult that must be.

And the other stuff is cool too, but wow. :)

I tend to be pretty good at games but I'll try to do stupid things to see if they work. "Can I use an all big gun cruiser in Gratuitous Space Battles?" "Can I use the Skyguard anti-air attachment to murder tanks, Sunderers and Infantry in Planetside 2?" "Can I eat nothing but carrots in Don't Starve?"
