Irate, suicidal, armed, and threatening to kill your wife and children is no way to go through life, son.

The McMinn County Sheriff said shortly before 8 am Saturday, Athens Police Officers received a report that Robert Vann Marshall, 34, was irate, suicidal, armed and threatening to kill his wife and children.

Authorities said Robert Marshall made bond and was eventually released at approximately 1:27 p.m.

Then at approximately 1:38 p.m., 911 received a call from the Marshall residence where Melissa Marshall, stated that her husband, Robert Marshall was at the residence attending to get inside.

So she was trying to protect herself and her kids. He probably shouldn't have gone over there.

I should have been more clear. Yeah, the guy also actually traveled home from jail within those 11 minutes. He was determined. Good for the wife for being able to put him down.

Maybe I've just seen too many Law & Order episodes. You know it's their standard trope where they're unable to get a conviction, the guy is walking out with an obvious "Yea I did it" smirk, and the one witness who survived whatever he did walks up and shoots him dead.

Not your fault. Like I said, I've been corrupted by Law & Order tropes.

Cops let him out even though he was "irate, suicidal, armed and threatening to kill his wife and children". Now I'm wondering if they even took his weapons from his car.

According to Google Maps, the county jail is about 10 minutes from their house. He didn't even stop at 7-11 for a Slurpee.

If he hadn't been such a drama queen he'd have had 15 minutes left over to get to the gym.

Obviously he preferred getting one from his wife.

"He also said they will work with the District Attorney Generals office to decide whether or not to present it to a Grand Jury."

Right, because your failure wasn't enough, her having no choice but to shoot and kill the man that you had in custody 11 minutes before wasn't enough.  Lets have a grand jury so we can get it on record how much of a failure you and this system as a whole is.

Slight difference between kicking in a door and threatening to kill people, and walking down a street armed with Skittles.

The thing I get out of this is that a restraining order is just paper and when the abusive bastard gets out of prision that restraining order isn't worth the ink it's printed with unless you happen to carry a 200lb police officer in your pocket.

Now a gun on the otherhand seems to be a very effective tool for saying "stay away, I mean it" and having it stick if he decides to go all Ike Turner.

There once was a man from McMinn
Released one twenty seven
By one thirty eight
Quite high and irate
He got shot when he tried to break in

Like most web news articles, the reporter assumes you live in the same town that he does (WBIR.com), and doesn't tell you where the incident occurred. It's in Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee.

You did fine.  I had the same knee-jerk reaction as scotty but that was my error.  It pays to RTFA.

Narcotics, handgun, active order of protection and "terroristic threats" (quoted because I hate that term)
Bonded out 5 hours later after a finger-wagging firm talking to.  fark me....

I used to live there. Quiet little farming town, except when it was the site of the Battle of Athens http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Athens_%281946%29

I've probably driven by this guy's house.

You might think...i dunno...that the cops would have been waiting outside the jail to see where he went when he got out.

I'm always amused by the lack of irony awareness of these guys, "Then the Biatch lies and tells them I'm dangerous and gets an order of protection.  I'LL SHOW HER!"

I hate it when "news" sites do crap like that and intentionally leave their location vague. If ya put yer info on the world-wide web for the whole world to read, at least put an image of the shape of the state somewhere on the page so we can narrow it down.

It also confuses the heck out of people outside the US, who often assume that "county" in the US is equivalent to a "county" in Ireland, for example. And there are multiple counties in the US with the same name. How popular is your county's name?
