Perhaps the one going to jail should have been whatever idiot spread the rumour that he had a gun. That's the one that panicked people.

notyomama: Although it is sad that this is what we have come to, his actions were the equivalent of yelling Fire! in a crowded theater, which is a crime.  He caused a needless panic.  He should have known better - the dumbass.

No, it's not.  It's not even remotely similar.  There is no way in the world he could have possibly expected that going "pew pew pew" with his fingerbangers would cause a panic.

Are we through, yet?

Are we through pretending that the Fourth Reich isn't being installed here?  Are we done harrumphing and flag waving and pretending we're not on the ass end of a very old business plan?  Is it freedom yet?

People get offended over anything and everything.  Point a finger, eat a pastry, draw a picture.  It doesn't matter what you do.  Someone will get offended or scared and you must be punished.

Today I made a joke about British food.  My boss heard, and chastised me for it.  I expect to get hauled before HR tomorrow and written up.  Why?  Because I was "making jokes about someone's nationality".  That's his exact words.  No I wasn't.  I was joking about British food.  I was doing a comparison of this American phenomenon of deep frying everything under the sun and comparing it some of the horrible choices in British cuisine.

I should wear army fatigues to work tomorrow.

/but then I'd have to update my resume

Is a good guy making gun gestures with his fingers and going "choo, choo, choo"!

No one needs 10 fingers. Chop them off unless you get a permit.

Also, it's all theater, and getting more blatant as the years roll along. Yes, keep crusading against abortion rights, keep stirring up controversy and manufacturing situations like the gay rights blockade to keep people outraged in a different direction.

Carefully control the crime statistics and use every chance to enforce even more draconian laws on the people, be it terrorism, mass murder, or what have you.

And the worst part is, we all play along, pretending that the news and political drama aren't there merely as the distraction while the men with money get their way. And yet, it's called domestic terrorism and derp if you agitate against it. My what a docile and obedient republic we are. Perhaps it's Stockholm syndrome on a grand scale.

RoyBatty: It is an offensive gesture.

So, it has come to this.

*sigh*

Been seeing it for years as the underlying reason to get angry with people,  and now it's an open excuse to arrest and charge people.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Hopefuly it gets to court and the smash it thoroughly.

So, while attending a movie with extreme graphic violence, including a woman getting her hand cut off and bodies raining down hundreds of feet after being blown to hell with machine guns, someone making gun fingers gets arrested.

But hey, movies and music have no effect on violence, just people making gun fingers.

Police arrested Reynolds in the movie theater lobby.

"(Reynold's behavior) will not be tolerated in Bryan. It is an offensive gesture. It alarmed people and we took the appropriate actions," said Kelley McKethan, a Bryan police department spokesperson.
I love my kids, and it saddens me greatly that they will never know a US that had freedom of speech, freedom of travel, due process and no zero tolerance policies.

"It was dark and nobody could really tell especially if you were in the back and you just see a guy going 'tank tank tank,'" said Caroline Morales, one of the people in the theater Friday night. "The rumor quickly spread that it was a tank and everyone is rushing to the exit quickly. We couldn't have got out if we wanted to because tanks have treads."
