To be honest, that lobster looks like it's more than 20 pounds. I saw one of the largest lobsters in captivity when I was a child and it was about the size of this thing's gripping claw.

The smaller of the two claws is for cutting, the larger claw is for gripping and thumping. It can be used as a shield also.

Does that lobsterman look a bit funny to you, like maybe he's having an orgasm? I'm just asking.

Came to dad a chum.  No need.

We got a 3 lb lobster once in Maine several years ago.  Had to use a big damn knife to get into that guy.  Definitely nowhere near 20lbs but damn I can't even imagine trying that guy, I'm glad they let him go.

FWIT, lobster's don't die of old age. They keep growing until they get eaten.

They keep breeding, too. Definitely better to let the big ones go. They're survivors, and they'll gladly do their part to keep that delicious lobster population healthy.

A lobster's age is typically its weight x 4 then + 3.

This sucker is the same age as Clint Eastwood or Sean Connery, and probably just as badass.

What is it about this picture that makes me think it was taken a long time ago, like the '50s?

Is it the weird, too-rich color?  The hairstyles, though they are barely seen?  I think it might even something in the faces.  I can't quite explain it.

That's not a very big lobster.

By today's overfished standards, it's larger than normal, but back in the 1700s they caught ones as long as a man.

At that size I think this is its spiel to any predator thinking about a go: "Seeing that this a 20-pound lobster and could cut your head clean off, there's just one question you should be asking yourself. 'Do I feel lucky?'"

Nah, those were just guys who dressed up as lobsters to escape the fisherman's house after shtuping the wife while her Ahab was out to sea.

The bigger they are the worst they taste. I guess this might go toward explining why noone liked them to the degree that these was a maximum amount you were allowed to feed to prisoners.
