Wait, is it now newsworthy that HOF players would rather play in MLB than Triple A? Color me surprised.

I can tell you one thing - Scranton doesn't want to see him leave.  Last night and the two nights before it were all sold out thanks to him.  It took 20 minutes to park the damn car, and that was with cops and stadium staff directing traffic.  Every other person there was wearing a Jeter shirt or jersey - it was quite a turnout.

And Yankee fans will appreciate this: each time Jeter stepped up to the plate, the voice of the late great  Bob Shepard could be heard, just as it is in the Bronx, say, "Now batting, number two: Derek Jeter."

Tangentially, a billboard ad for the University of Scranton was put up in my home town...in Massachusetts, along the road to Cape Cod.  Is it just me, or does it seem a bit extreme to have it there?

That's awesome.

If I were Derek Jeter (I'm not), I would have paid Bob Shepherd to record introductions for any/all occasions.  I would then hire a flunky to carry a boom box for the rest of my life.

"Now proceeding through the airport terminal, number two: Derek Jeter"
"Now checking in for his dental appointment, number two: Derek Jeter"
"Now purchasing a gift basket for your sister, number two: Derek Jeter"

And of course:
"Now entering this men's room, number two: Derek Jeter."

Do they also have a stadium in Wilkes-Barre or is that just a regionalization thing?

Yes. There was quite a commotion about that arena being built in Wilkes Barre. There was a point when the people of Wilkes Barre didn't want to build the arena. Scranton was willing to build the arena here.

I've seen the Foo fighters open for RHCP, Queens of the stone Age open for NIN and more recently Guns and Roses. It's not a bad venue for hockey or concerts

I just wanted to mention that the Yankees have now dropped two in a row to a AAA team.

That might be worth noting if the Yankees weren't also a AAA team.

It is in Wilkes-Barre Township, which is not within the Wilkes-Barre city limits.
